Selling candy on a streetcorner

Recently, I have noticed an increasing number of people selling candy (M&M’s, etc) on the street corner. Since I am in downtown walking mode (no talking, eye contact, or visible flashes of money), I never pay much attention to what they are saying.

So, what the heck are they doing? I assume they are raising money for a “worthy cause”, but I tend to think the worthy cause ends up being Darryl’s improvements to the stereo in his Suburban.

Any other downtown’s besides Atlanta have this going.

Probably the Defense Department trying to raise money for the next project. Those fighter jets don’t come cheap.
