Selling old Video Games Questions

I have a few playstation 1 and super nintendo video games that i kept in the closet. Most of the playstation 1 games i have i check on ebay and most of them aren’t worth anything. Some i see no one wants to buy it for even 2 dollars etc.

But for some super nintendo games i have, i notice theres a few games that are worth say 20 dollars or more. Those seem to be the more popular ones.

The thing is i don’t play video games anymore so i don’t plan to play them again. Thus i dont want to keep it in closet and use up space. My question is assuming i have no purpose of keeping them, is it best to just sell them now? The thing is, could there be a chance where it would be worst a lot more later on? Thus it might be 30 dollars now but later on might be 80 etc?

Im curious but does anyone know when these super nintendo games along with other video games seem to have a high price? For example i dont have final fantasy 7 for playsatation, but i googled it and apparently its worth at least 50 dollars for the game. I recalled back then many years ago when playstation 2 came out… thne playstation 1 had those greatest hits and this was one of them and it sell for 20 dollars or so. Now its worth that much?

Who is buying these games? Are they ppl that buy them for collectible items or are they ppl who buy them to play them? Im curious if theres more ppl who buy as collectibles or to play them. Are there ppl that buy them now for 50 dollars because they want to keep it and then later on, they hope the price goes up to 80 or 100 in the future?

When i was younger i loved playing video games but that was when i was a kid and most kids like playing video games. I dont play video games anymore and when i see some games i have that even sell for 20 dollars, i thought hey thats pretty good. Also i have games that i bought many years ago for 40 dollars plus and probably 2 dollars no one wants it etc.

So if someone like me who dont play any of these video games anymore, best to just sell them right now right before it might even go down less?

I can’t say what everyone is doing, but my friend who collects old NES games does so just to have them sit around. Sometimes he breaks out a NES for novelty value, but on the rare occasions that we play an old game, we use an emulator. I’d be surprised if most people didn’t do the same.

I don’t know anything about the economics of collectible video games, besides the basic stuff that rare games are worth more and important/beloved titles in the history of gaming go for more. Like, everyone loves Super Mario Brothers 3, but everyone also owned SMB3 so it probably isn’t worth anything. My cousin sold his boxed Chrono Trigger for $100 years ago. Everyone likes Chrono Trigger (though I’m in the Lufia II was better camp), but not everyone owned it. I’m sure some people see it as an investment rather than a hobby. Maybe most of the buyers do. I have no idea.

Would you guys who sell games on ebay say its a waste of time trying to buy stuff to repair it?

Example my ps1 system when i put games in… many of the games dont spin. I see the sony entertanment logo etc but it goes directly to this screen that say memory card and cd player. Someone said theres damage to the glass and it cost money to fix that. But if i do that, its a waste since ps1 sold on ebay is no more than 10 dollar max right? It doesnt make sense to even pay 15 dollars to fix it since you would be selling it for less than you fix it.

Also some of my snes games seem to load after blowing it but u can’t click on any of them. I read about the snes cleaning kit but paying 30 dollars for it seems to be a waste would u agree since it might not fix the problem?
