Sen Craig takes it up the ass!

FTR, I’m not referring to truck stops. I’m referring to public rest stops on the freeway late at night with lots of truckers parked there overnight. And not only have I been “propositioned by foot” a few times in such a place, I’ve read a few newspaper reports of complaints about over-aggressive cruising in rest stop bathrooms, including playing stall-footsy, from the general public to the police.

But I pretty much agree with the poster who argued that most men wouldn’t pick up the signals as to what was really going on.

It’s a dance party held in a nightclub which is full of bubble-bath foam; they’re popular in Ibiza, from what I’m told. They’re not seen as “Gay”, either, AFAIK- it’s just a dance party (like you’d find in any nightclub), but with lots of foam present.

The men’s room in one of the buildings in the College of Humanities at the University of Utah, where I went to school, apparently a well-known pickup place for gays. This was back in the 80s, before the Net, so I don’t know how this word would get around.

I was in the EE program, and the only classes took in that building was Japanese, so I didn’t frequent the men’s rooms there. I had a physics test there as a freshman, since our seats were too close together in our lecture hall. Just before the test, I had to take a piss, and there wasn’t time to go to the next building. It was the first time to use the rest rooms there, and I was surprised how large they were. There must have been 40 urinals in two sub-rooms. No one else was there, and I headed to a back corner to leave plenty of other options for other users.

I start by business and suddenly feel the presence of someone close by. Looked over, and right next to me was a guy starting at my dick. This, of course, violates every rule of normal men’s room etiquette. Always leave an empty urinal between two people and next look at another guy’s dick. Of the 39 empty urinals, that he chose to side up to me, would have me guess that it was a solicitation attempt.

A kind of long, perhaps mundane story, but the point is that there are places which are well know pick-up places.

Did you watch his statement to the press? Claims it was all the fault of the Idaho Statesman newspaper.

In this afternoon press conference, Craig stated “I’m not gay!” four times. Not “I’ve never had sex with a man”. So many men who have sex with men claim to be straight. And google “Dameron Guide” to find the cruising area nearest you.

Thank you, Senator Craig, for your adamant denials of any homosexual experiences. There’s nothing like a forceful, 100% denial to bring out proof to the contrary.

This isn’t the first time he’s had to deny being gay. The first time was back in 1982, when he issued a “preemptive denial.” It looks like he paniced then, and if you read the article, the media in question denies threatening to publish. What an ass.

Hey hey hey!, I´m Uruguayan and I strenously object to be assosiated in any shape or form with individuals like that.

Exactly.

If Senator Craig had consensual gay sex with pages…well, there’s issues of supervisor vs. subordinate. But not necessarily crime. (If the pages were above the age of consent.)

And if he had sex with men while he was married, that’s sort of adultery. But I know a bunch of polyamorous and bisexual people and if that was accepted within the bounds of their marriage, it’s ok for him to cruise restrooms for a blowjob (giving or recieving). Maybe his wife knows something we don’t.

If these two are true he has nothing to be ashamed of.

If, however, Senator Craig trolls for men in various bathrooms while trying to deny gay men their rights to visit their lovers in the hospital or get benefits for them, and works to outlaw gay marriage, and doesn’t tell his wife about his proclivity for dick…he deserves all the exposure he gets, as a huge hypocrite.

And your location is Bangkok. . .

Indeed, and as far as I know I´m the only Uruguayan living here (there are a grand total of two others scattered elesewhere in Thailand).

Sorry for the hijack, I´m out of here!

But sex with a page would IMHO qualify as “impropriety.”

Sort of?

Oh, his wife knows. Do you know when they were married?

Right after the aforementioned 1982 page scandal.

Do you know how he knew her?

She worked for him.

She knew.

Oh, and the kids they have? They’re all hers by a previous marriage.

I think he deserves to be outted but I also feel sorry for him. His denial in the face of so much evidence and such a lengthy history is very sad, indeed. He actually sounds as though he believes that he’s not gay! Poor guy. What a way to go through life. Who knows what outside influences have forced him into such a state of self-loathing.

I think she means that they may have an “agreement” in which case it wouldn’t be adultery.

Besides Bags, I can imagine a number of guys who’s habits might have invited suspicion making a bombing run at the airport; John Bonham, Fred Astaire, Keith Moon, Gregory Heinz, Michael Flatley, etc.

You forgot:

H) soliciting gay sex in a public restroom as a Republican Senator not that soon after the Haggard and Foley scandals. (I would mention Allen, too, but I think that happened after this.)

What baffles me is why these closeted Republicans use prostitutes to satisfy their urges. That’s like begging to get caught in the most shameful way possible, because not only will you be outed as a creepy man-loving slut (which alone you’d think would be a major deterence), but you also will get caught committing a crime that is embarrassing regardless of orientation. Why don’t they just get logcabin boyfriends that they keep well plied with good loving and hush money? That’s what I would do.

On the radio this morning they had a 2-second snippet of Craig’s little “I’m not gay!” tantrum and were playing it over and over again whenever they could work it in, and they managed to work it in a lot. Stuff like …

DJ: The weather today calls for sun this morning and “I’m not gay” in the afternoon.
DJ: Traffic in the mixmaster this morning is totally “I’m not gay”.
DJ: Coming up next is the Eagles. “I’m not gay”.

Okay, I’m not a lesbian so I’m curious…do women cruise for anonymous sex in a similar way? I’ve run into the standard barroom pick-up thing before, but I’ve never heard of women “cruising” parks or such. Anyone?

Let’s explore this sentiment, which is not uncommon at all.

First: absolutely agree with the charge of hypocriscy. It’s a charge that’s been made often in these environs, with varying degrees of accuracy. Here, it’s completely on target.

But there’s a sense, a sentiment, in the above comment that there’s a problem that goes beyond hypocrisy, I think. If I’m wrong, then this discussion will quickly expose my error.

Let’s picture a hypothetical politician who says:

[ol]
[li]I’m gay. I like the big meaty cock.[/li][li]I oppose same-sex marriage.[/li][li]I oppose government-mandated schemes that force companies or the government to provide health benefits for same-sex partners.[/li][/ol]

Apart from disagreement with the stance he has on #2 and #3, what, if anything is wrong with this guy?
