Can I just say at this point how awesome it would be if women’s bodies actually could decide not to get pregnant?
Oh, for fuck’s sake. Next, we’re going to start seeing reruns from the 70s of politicians “proving” (with Coke bottles and pencils ad visual aids) that rape is impossible.:mad:
You forgot the paper towel tube.
He likes to believe that, but he has until 5 pm tomorrow to decide and the rats are leaving his sinking ship fast. I bet he does remove himself before then.
… and all the Democrats are hoping he doesn’t.
I wouldn’t bet on it, myself – as I said, stubbornness tends to go wtih stupidity and ignorance.
The latest word is that the national party is pulling the plug on financial support to pressure Akin to drop out. That might work… or might make the GOP’s problems worse if Akin turns to the True Believers and pounds the wedge deeper between them and the party leaders who retain some tenuous connection to reality.
This is also one of three Republican candidates presently running who want to repeal the 17th Amendment (Senators shall be elected by the voting public). The guy is a moron, indeed.
This thought ought to be combined with the “Why can’t I Close my Ears?” thread.
What I don’t get is, this dolt is on the House science committee. A man who thinks women have magic anti-pregnancy rape-detection systems in their mysterious lady parts… is on the House science committee. What in the actual fuck? Republicans, you couldn’t fill that committee with people who at least knew seventh grade biology?!
How about, before making an ass out of yourself by tweeting such a question to a worldwide audience, you start by typing G-O-O-G-L-E-.-C-O-M into your address bar, and ask your question there.
But if we knew shitbricker already had the answer, he couldn’t distract everyone by JAQing off.
I actually think it is the other way round. That a rape has a higher statically possibility of resulting in a pregnancy than a regular consensual intercourse. And then it is a sad but entirely predictable commentary on the misuse of the term “rape” that we have now to distinguish between different kinds of rape, some of which are too trivial to merit being called legitimate.
Nope, they went with Option B: fill the House Science commitee with people who want to redefine 7th grade biology to fit their worldview, facts be damned!
This guy sounds like an idiot that was in my class at the school I attended for baking science and technology. The class had about 65 people, and ten of us were women. Once, during three days of special classes and seminars, there was a class about women in the baking industry. At the big production level the industry had been male dominated.
So the guy raises his hand and blurts out how he doesn’t think women fit in well at the management level, because “there’s this thing that happens to them each month and, it, uh, affects their judgement.”
We women tended to sit in a cluster, and at his words our claws started protruding, and the lips skinned back from our teeth to reveal long, glistening fangs. But before the bloodbath could start the speaker leaned forward, looked right at the guy and opened his eyes dramatically wide, and said “Are you talking about their raging hormones?”
Everyone, including us, burst out laughing, and the poor schmuck slunk down into his seat with a very red face.
Yup, them people who want to kill them babies, they’re un-American, I tell you.
SO how does “forcible rape” as opposed to “legitimate rape” make the statement anything more than slightly less repugnant and scientifically ignorant? Just curious
I need to explain something to all these men who don’t seem to know fuckall about women.
Like most women I’m shorter than you are. In my case much shorter as I top out at about five two in high heels early in the morning. The average man is five nine and the average woman about five four. While I need to lose weight. like nearly all women, I still weigh less than most men.
So here I am the average woman and here you are the average man. You want me to do your bidding physically? It takes very little to get that to happen. Is that clear? I’m not going to fight you off because I know I can’t win. If I think I can get away with it I will scream if you touch me and try to grab your penis or gouge your eyeballs out. But mostly there’s really nothing I can do to stop you if you want to rape me. There is no such thing as “forcible rape” because most women know all rapes are forcible and they can’t stop a man bent on rape from raping them.
I have no idea why the fuck I should have to explain this simple fact to a grown up male with a college degree.
“Ill-conceived.” Ha. If he legitimately didn’t think what he said was wrong, he clearly never would have conceived of it in the first place.
Was it ill-conceived from a legitimate raping of facts?
Their problem is fairly simple. They grudgingly accept that instances of rape require special treatment* but are concerned about all the wild sluts who will later claim rape in order to get the abortion and all the free goodies that Planned Parenthood offers to promote abortions.
- Prick Santorum, of frothy lube fame, is an exception. He is of the opinion that pregnancy is a gift from God in all circumstances, and the victim should simply accept the joy that is hers. No, I’m not kidding.
