senate refusing to consider SC nomination

Just curious, but what are the chances that the senate will remain deadlocked past the next election regarding the Supreme Court nominee?

If the republicans win the Presidency and control of the Senate, might the democrats say they want to wait until the next election just like the republicans? If 1 year is OK, why not 4? Of course this assumes the democrats have more than 40 seats in the Senate and the rules aren’t changed.
If a democrat wins the Presidency, might the republicans say they want to wait until the next election just because?
If the democrats regain control of the Senate and a republican wins the Presidency, might the democrats say they want to wait until the next election?

My prediction is the Rs will continue to keep the uppidy pretender on the ropes and stall any appointments he wants to make, until it’s clear the actual election will be Trump/Sanders. Those with two brain cells left will rub them together and do some math: [Trump can’t beat Sanders] + [Sanders makes Obama look like a Nazi] = [Better take what Obama gives them because they’re really not gonna like what happens if they leave this up to Bernie].

If this happens, we could see a flurry of nominations and approvals in the two weeks between the new Senate and the new President.
