It seems the good Senator wants to make a law to stop google from releasing their new service, gmail. How nice of her to protect us from their evil invasion of privacy right?
Wait a min… HELLO STUPID BITCH you do realize this is something you would sign up for right? and ya know, agree too? Its not like they are intercepting and scanning people’s email without permission or anything. Hell its not even a real person, its a computer program that would scan it! I mean, God forbid their little program knows you and your aunt Sally are going for a picnic next tuesday and little Tommy lost his first tooth.
I truly cannot understand why people are getting so upset about this. It’s not that big a deal, just don’t use gmail if you don’t want them to scan your email. wow is that so hard? If you are really paranoid you can even not send email to people who use gmail!
People who try and pass stupid laws like this piss me off so bad becase there is absolutely no fucking point to it.
That being said, I’m not going to be useing gmail becase ads annoy me and i can’t imagine useing 1 gig of space. the 1mb or whatever hotmail gives you is way more then enough. How many Emails do you people save that you need 1 gig of space?
She’s clearly irrational. Either she’s insane (in which case, there needs to be a serious focus on her party and people that elected her…recall time again?) or she’s been bought by a Google competitor (time to audit the contribution books…). Who knows which?
I will refuse to use this service because of the ad insertion. But what really frosts me about it is this quote from the story:
ARCHITECT IS NOT A VERB! Take a stand against invasion of privacy, but at the same time take a stand against yet another stupid degradation of the language. What’s wrong with “build” or “design,” two perfectly good and already existing verbs, that they felt the need to warp “architect” into one?
My personal vote is for political grandstanding. She (or her staff) figure, correctly, that more people won’t bother to check into exactly what Google is offering. Joe Average will assume that the good senator is going her job, and protecting us poor slobs from the evil megacorps that are all out to get us. She gets good press for the next couple of months, then the bill gets quietly dropped because it’s a piece of shit.
On the other hand, she has a pretty good track record of voting against almost everything that Campaigh for California Families supports. So if I lived in California, I guess I would forgive her this one, and vote for her anyways.
