What are the odds DrDeth owns both a fedora and a black trenchcoat? The fedora is obviously a given but I’m less sure about the coat.
I used to work with a guy at a construction company who was completely disconnected from reality. We’d have a weekly meeting where we would go over the status of each job, schedule crews and machines, and review what was coming up in the short term. Six of the seven of us would leave that meeting with an understanding of how that week was going to go… this guy would leave the meeting thinking, “ok, I need to get all the equipment out of the mechanics’ shop so we can fill it with soil… then I need to tear the roof of to let sunlight in and plant some crops in there so we don’t starve when the snows come.”
I think DrDeth might have him beat.
I have to say, one of the reasons I keep coming back to The Pit so often is the amusement I get when people like Starving Artist (and now DrDeth) are convinced they’re WINNING! when they’re actually wrong in every conceivable way and it’s painfully obvious that everyone else in the thread is just engaging them so they can PALATR. It’s a phenomenon I don’t think I’ve encountered in the real world (though I don’t watch Fox News, so maybe I’m missing out there).

I am a total neutral on the basic dispute, since my sole knowledge of A Song of Ice and Fire or Game of Thrones is derived from passing mentions on TV Tropes. I like fantasy, but this one doesn’t sound like my thing, so I don’t plan to read/watch.
I do have to join the general consensus that the OP is being totally unreasonable and self-centered, demanding some perceived “right” to violate the wishes of participants in a thread just to show off fancied intellectual superiority.
