Sequel to "Exodus"

Someone help me out here. I could swear that, in the 1970s, I read about a motion picture entitled Ari, based upon the character in Leon Uris’ novel “Exodus”. In the 1960 motion picture version of Exodus, Ari ben Canaan was played by Paul Newman:

According to my memory, Ari wasn’t so much a sequel to Exodus as a filming of the parts of the novel not filmed in that first flick. (Kinda like the film The Hawaiians had the stuff that Hawaii didn’t have room for, from Michener’s novel).

It did not star Newman. I don’t recall who starred. And my recollection was that I had read a review of a completed film, not a report on a planned film that might not get done. I even recall a still from the movie.
But I can’t find any record of this on the internet! iMDB lists no sequels to Exodus, and has nothing under Leon Uris’ name. I know that iMDB isn’t perfect, but my other searches of the internet as a whole turn up nothing.

I can’t have imagined this, can I? Did I switch into a parallel universe somewhere? (If so, why don’t I have a goatee and an evil laugh?)

Has anyone else ever heard of this?

There was a Broadway play called “Ari” that was based on the book Exodus, but it folded after a few weeks. Are you sure you’re not thinking of that?

The only productions made of Uris’s novels were Battle Cry (about Marines in the Pacific during WWII), Exodus, Topaz (about a Soviet spy ring and the Cuban Missile Crisis), and QB VII (about a libel case).

He did write “The Haj”, which was about this family of Palestinians made refugees by the founding of Israel, and “Milta Pass”, which was about the battle of Milta Pass in the 1956 war, but neither of them were made into movies.

Nope – I’m fairly sure that it was a movie, and containing scenes not in the 1960 film. I recall a still showing an outdoor scene, which couldn’t have been from a play. The play’s about the right time. But it’s a musical (!)

I’ve read The Haj. I don’t even think there’s a character named “Ari” in that.

Was it maybe Leviticus?
