Sequels that were made LONG after their firsts.

These days, most sequels come out about a year or two (if the first was successful, that is, and sometimes, unfortunatly, when they’re not), maybe 3 or 4 at most…but I’m wondering what movie would have the record for longest time span between two sequels?
Scanning IMDB with my own knowledge, I learned that The Beastmaster 2: Through the portal of time came 9 years after the first one.

And one long one has to go to The Birds II: Lands End, which came 31 years after the original.

However, the longest I know of, if we’re count all types of movies, including documentaries, animated films, foreign films, and the ones only a few people know about, then Happily Ever After, made in 93, which is the sequel To Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs, has to take the prize. 56 years.
Anyone know of any other long spans? Anything over 10 years will do.

The Two Jakes came out in the early '90s, after Chinatown’s 1974 release.

The Hustler: 1961
The Color of Money: 1986

The Guns of Navarone - 1961
Force 10 From Navarone - 1978

The Last Picture Show - 1971
Texasville - 1990

The Last Pictureshow ('71) and it’s sequel Texasville ('90). Not too long but still signifigant.

3 minutes too late! Bah.

The Maltese Falcon — 1941
The Black Bird — 1975
Fantasia — 1940
Fantasia 2000 — 1999

Exactly 10: Night Of The Living Dead 1968 -> Dawn of the Dead 1978

23 Years: Psycho 1960 -> Psycho 2 1983

16 Years between 2 & 3: Godfather II (1974) -> Godfather III 1990

Does this count? 46 Years: Wizard of Oz 1939 -> Return To Oz 1985

Carrie 2 came out long after Carrie 1

15 years: The Four Musketeers and The Return of the Musketeers
16 years: Return of the Jedi and The Phantom Menace
18 years: That’s Entertainment, Part II and III

Wow, 59 years.

I didn’t know that F2000 was a sequel, though. I always thought it was a remake (however, I’ve never seen it, so I guess I was wrong).

22 years: The Freshman and The Sin of Harold Diddlebock

Gone With the Wind - 1939

Scarlett - 1993 (TV miniseries but billed at the time it aired as the long awaited sequel.)
That’s 54 years, right?

The Graduate
The crapfest un-sequel to the Graduate about to come out, diminishing the careers of all involved.

^^^Un-sequel?

Kurt Russel’s Snake Escaped from New York in 1981 then waited until 1996 for Los Angeles. (I know, I know, why did he bother ?)
