Series, series, I don't want a series!

When I am looking through the latest fantasies on Amazon or the Barnes & Noble website, I am looking for books I don’t know about. I do not need eight thousand entries for Joe P. Shmoe’s endless Pulp Fantasy Chronicles: The Sequel’s Sequel. Honest, I get it the first time.

Are there any book recommendation websites, or just plain bookstore websites, where there’s a search option for “not part of a series”? Or even “only show me one link for all the books in the series”.

I haven’t run across anything like that, except maybe the Internet Science Fiction Database, but I don’t think those search terms would work.

You might ask at SFF World. There are a lot of bloggers and reviewers who post in those forums, and they might know.
