Adoptions are not always the best thing. Adopted babies are tortured, abused and killed. Adopted children have no sense of their biological family and grow up with a huge piece missing. That last time, I and others pointed out over and over that your cites show correlation and not causation, you still went on to say:

Not one cite you have ever given has shown any kind of causation. My conclusion is that you do not actually understand the meaning of the word “causation,” so let me try to explain it to you.

CORRELATION is when two events happen in proximity to each other, but neither causes the other, rather they are both caused by outside factors.

CAUSATION is when one factor CAUSES the other factor, or outcome. (Get it?)

Please, I am begging you, give us a cite that shows CAUSATION between adoption and serial killing. Not CORRELATION, that they are both the result out outside factors that may be causative of both of them, but CAUSATION between the two, that adoption DIRECTLY CAUSES PEOPLE TO BECOME SERIAL KILLERS.

In ZPG’s defense, she is from a culture where children were violently removed from the families and adopted out to “good christian homes” [and in the bad old days the parents were frequently killed in the process] in a form of racial cleansing.

But given the number of adopted kids who don’t go all stabby, it really does fall to a question of nature vs nurture. I won’t argue that some adopted kids [when adopted past 1 year or 2 years old] do have a slight possibility of mental disorder from abuse but to willynilly claim that adoption will cause psychological damage is incorrect.

My SIL adopted our niece 18 years ago. She was completely accepted and as one of the clan. In fact the whole fam damily arrived en masse at the hospital to give blood for her operation when she was a week old. (Gave the nurses quite a start, there were a lot of us) She is aware that she was adopted. She is currently moving into a house a few houses down from me. I have no fear whatsoever that she is going to slit my throat or anything like that. My best friend growing up was adopted also. Never showed any murderous tendacies.

I will agree that every adopted person I have known has had a period, usually during adolesence, when s/he has dealt with issues regarding their adoption. It’s natural. The majority of us get over it.

Do I know adoptees that have serious psych issues? Of course. In a family with 4 adopted kids, every one has mental illness not caused by the adoption, rather caused by the trauma of FAS and two of them being ‘crack babies’ and subsequent abuse at the hands of their biological mother. Once landing in a stable home, their illnesses that had been somewhat hidden during the abuse came to the forefront, as they had no idea what to do. Now, 6 years later, only one minor child remains in the adopted household. Two are adults, frequently in contact with their adopted mother, but on SSI due to their mental illnesses. The last minor had to go back into the foster care system, as she was almost too broken by what she had put on her as an infant.
