The posters are not bots. I do have it on good authority that the mods are all lizard people.

I wonder how/where the SDMB ranks on the troll farm’s priority list. It’s a small website, but it frequently comes up in searches (not just only on my own phone and computer, but when I look for things on public computers or at friends houses). Plus if it;s your job to post for eight hours a day, you certainly have time to make it pretty far down the list.

So we end up with frequent one-off posters who lay a turd and never return. Then there are short-lived posters who drop a few turds here and there for a while. Their posting style is a little similar, but it’s hard to tell them apart from the Poe’s Law Posters that have been around for a long time.

Are some posters here just bots? Maybe. Before we can discuss this accurately, though, you are going to have to define “just robot” vs. “unjust robot”.

The way that computer programs are stupid is different from the way humans are stupid. For a bot to sound like a stupid human, it would have to be an incredibly smart bot, deliberately pretending to be a stupid human. Producing something like this doesn’t really seem like a productive use of anyone’s time.
