Karzai is a corrupt ahole. I’m not going to say anything good about him. However, it seems to me that the best course for the US is to set him up as a brutal dictator and let him do his thing. Turn a blind eye.
The GWBush aggression in Iraq was in-conscionable. An unfunded, unprovoked war in that part of the world (where the architects of the war didn’t know the difference between a Sunni and a Shiite) was a huge factor in our economic crisis.
After the Iraq aggression went haywire I thought that the US should take Hussein, dust him off, put him back in power, sign a long term oil contract and get the hell out. I think I was right.
Now it’s time to look at Karzai in the same light. Let him fight his own war to stay in power. We can’t stop the corruption. Yea, we’ll give him some funding but no more lives. If Karzai falls, target some drones and missiles at the Taliban but don’t waste anymore lives. Let them live in fear.
