He voiced three different characters on the Family Guy. Is there a video clip of an interview with Seth?
I don’t have a clip, but in interviews, his real voice is pretty close to Brian’s.
Do a search for Seth MacFarlane on YouTube; there’s an interview with Jimmy Kimmel where you can hear him speaking naturally. He says there that Brian’s voice is essentially his own natural speaking voice.
Recent neck injuries gave me the opportunity to sit around and watch several seasons of Family Guy on DVD. I was bored enough to listen to all the commentaries as well. He’s on most if not all of those tracks (so there’s yet another way to hear his normal voice).
From what I gathered :
Brian is pretty much his natural voice.
Peter is a caricature of a dumb, provincial Rhode Islander.
Stewie is his version of Rex Harrison in My Fair Lady.
He actually does much more than those three voices. He’s most of the show. And for that matter, a pretty lucky bastard (rich, beloved, young, and a voice like that?) even if it means he probably gets recognized in public a lot.
He was also booked to fly on American Airlines Flight 11 on 9/11, but overslept and missed the flight by a matter of minutes. Don’t get much luckier than that.
Probably a year or so ago they had him on Adult Swim doing some stuff for family guy, like small monologues during a commercial break. His voice is what he uses for Brian as far as I could tell, there may be slight changes made, but not many.
Oh yeah, I forgot about that. And he overslept because he’d been out drinking the night before, so drinking too much saved his life. He talked about it on Adam Corolla’s show and called himself “Mr. Magoo.”
The first time I heard his voice I was surprised. I was flipping channels and he was on the TV Guide channel saying something and I was like, “Huh? Was that Brian?”
He also works on American Dad. He is more in the background there but he is a co-creator and maybe he does some voices too? I saw a special about the two shows but don’t remember.
He does Stan, the Dad and Roger, the Alien.
