Seventies dinner suggestions needed!

Quiche was definately a food that hit big in the 70’s.
I think the Fondue craze happened in the 1960’s. I recall seeing fondue pots galore in thrift stores during the 70s. However, the Fondue scene certainly fits in with the leisure suit cocktail party thing.

Thank you all for your suggestions - the menu has now been finalised!

Oh. damn.

It’s cool

Hey thanks!

What is a “cheese and pineapple hedgehog”? Is that a British/Aussie thing? Do they go by a different name in the States?

“Pork chops and applesauce” said in the voice of Peter Brady doing his Bogart impression.

I’m thinking pre-this, ready-that stuff from TV commercials. Shake’n’Bake. Brown-in-Bag. Bundt Cake. Jell-O. Ruffles. Doritos. Mr. Pibb. Coors.

Umm…I remember the 70’s quite clearly and don’t recall there being much of anything culinarily unique to the era. A lot of what we eat today wasn’t available then with respect to things like frozen foods and microwave meals. If I had to pick one thing out, slow cookers/crockpots were new back then and everybody was experimenting with them; so if I were trying to recreate a 70’s dinner the main course would be a slow cooker dish.

Mock Apple Pie!

Salisbury steak always comes to mind when I think back to that time.

Don’t forget to say:
“…and I helped!”

I’m thinkin’ Baby Quiche. Baby Quiche was all the rage amongst the stylish housewives I worked with back in the day.

[nitpick]complemented[/nitpick]

Chicken Kiev and Bundt Cake, as mentioned above. Also, don’t forget the Spanish Rice!

Pronounced “an’ ah hayelped!”

The main thing I remember about the 70s that’s at all different from today is that cholesterol was a word you almost never heard and Tab was the only diet drink most stores carried outside of big cities. The costume and music defined the era (well, outside of the news events).

You’re in luck:
Hamburger Helper came out in the seventies!! :stuck_out_tongue:

I wanna know, too!

I think it’s this.
