Sex & the City: How did these women meet?

Was that before or after Jerry Seinfeld dropped Charlotte’s toothbrush in the toilet bowl?

Almost surely that dress was paid for by the Russian.

Also, by that time, she had a book out, and they gave the impression that her column was pretty big. She had an ad on the side of the bus.

And, she doesn’t buy $500 shoes every week. And, her affinity for shoes and food is why she has nothing in savings.

I don’t know why people think it’s so incredible that these women are friends. I have plenty of guy friends who I’m COMPLETELY different from and we’re always judgmental about each other. If we weren’t, we wouldn’t have anything to talk about. Maybe women can’t pull that off.

As to the hotness of Charlotte: I don’t see it. There are buttoned-down cardigan wearers who exude a restrained sexuality. Then, there are buttoned-down cardigan wearers who exude an honest prudishness. She’s in the second category for me – not a girl who leaves the lights on and asks you to get behind her.

Finally, you don’t need to enjoy TV people in real life in order to like a show. This show is still one of the wittiest things ever put on TV, and one’s actual dislike of them is part of the fun (ever see Seinfeld? Geez.). The way the final season of the show was able to mix poignancy with humor is unmatched by any comedy series ever.

and was that before or after Olivia Benson auditioned for Jerry’s sitcom?

Actually, it was a flashback during an episode. I think missbunny is correct though, about Charlotte not being there. It was during the episode about their wild college friend who had settled down and had the baby shower. Not just a promo spot.

It’s simple: Personality-wise, all four were vile, but Charlotte was vile in a less aggressive way than the other three. Physically, Charlotte was simply the best-looking. That’s all there is to it. It has nothing to do with “female sexuality” or Charlotte being submissive or virginal (which she wasn’t; she was just selectively prudish), or restrained sexuality. She was just better looking.

There was a promo of them but they were younger - junior-high, maybe - and the actresses were actual kids, not Parker, etc., made up to look younger (as opposed to the flashback). The promo was quite funny - it had their future personalities down pat.
