Sex, Violence, and Mickey Mouse

For your enjoyment, I’m giving the link to this piece by Harlan Ellison: “The 3 Most Important Things in Life,” from Stalking the Nightmare, “Scenes from the Real World: I.”

The last part of the story is the account of how he was fired from Disney on his first day of work.

“But where were the Spiders?”

I’ve read it many times. Pretty cool. Ellison’s one of my favorites.

Mine too! Met him a few times here in L.A. at the Dangerous Visions bookstore in Sherman Oaks. (I’ve also met Ray Bradbury, David Gerrold, Larry Niven, Steven Barnes, J. Michael Straczynski and Robert Bloch there, to name just a few. Store owner Lydia Marano wrote a few episodes of Disney’s Gargoyles)

Just finished reading it - it was great!

Jab! You’ve met Ellison and Bradbury? God, I’m envious.
