My understanding is the British government is claiming this is a safety issue rather than an obscenity issue. They’re claiming that face-sitting is more dangerous than other sexual positions because of the possibility of the person underneath not being able to breath properly. They’re also banning depictions of fisting and bondage for the same argument of their relative danger.
That said, the same law bans squirting videos and unless they’re arguing there’s a risk of drowning, I don’t see how that represents a danger to anyone involved.

And you are incorrect: there is no ban on oral sex. The ban is explicitly on face-sitting, which is not the same thing.
Shodan, you’re right that face-sitting and water sports don’t necessarily have anything to do with one another. They’re just both part of a larger range of activities, including fisting, that have been banned from pornography produced in Britain.
The last part is important, and highlights how silly the ban is. First, the law does not ban regular, non-porn people from practicing face-sitting or fisting or water sports in their houses (how would you police that anyway?), so it’s pretty useless as a safety measure. And the law also does not ban face-sitting or fisting or water sports in pornography that Brits can view, as long as that pornography is produced outside of the UK.
I think the ban is all very silly. As long as proper safety precautions are taken, consenting adults should be free to get their freak on and upload it to the internet.

I recall from the 70s or 80s one of the British nations (Australia?) banning a lot of US mainstream porn like “Playboy” because of some issue over breast size ------ so I’m not entirely surprised.

I always thought the erotic comedys are the best. Ann Margaret starred in an adaptation of Joseph Andrews. I read parts of Tom Jones (its a huge novel to wade through).
