While expressing my virginity woes to a friend of mine a few weeks back, he said “why not go to a sexual therapist.”
He said that these are women who are like psychologists, but they teach people to have sex. I found it hard to believe or even imagine, but I wonder if anyone knows if these therapists actually exist? And why wouldn’t it be considered prostitution.
Now, I’m not seriously considering this. Well, at least not yet. I’m not THAT desperate. But I guess I might as well analyze my options. :\
Salon.com had an article some time ago about older virgins that mentioned surrogates. It’s here. (payment or watching a little ad required to read the full article)
Sex therapists and sex surrogates are two entirely different animals. Therapists are licensed professionals who will discuss sexual issues with you and help you find your own answers to whatever sexual questions you’ve got. They are forbidden by licensure and a canon of ethics from becoming sexual involved with clients.
Plnnr - who’s wife is a licensed professional counselor and deals with sexual issues all the time with her clients.
