Shallow people

today I met this absolutely perfect chick, was talking to her, and laughing, bowling, everything, and then she sits me down and says, “I think I should tell you this, because you are such a great guy, I’m deaf.” I was like, OK, why does that change anything between us?
She then proceeded to tell me that every guy except me that she has met has made up some excuse to leave when she tells them that. I was just gonna wonder if you have ever heard of someone as cruel as that?

(P.S. we have a date on Wednesday night)

OTOH, you can be thankful they left her available for you!

True, but wouldn’t turning down someone for being deaf be like turning someone down for being Left-handed or right handed?
right guys?
physical anomolies are not controllable…

It’s conceivable that those other guys just didn’t want to put the effort in to have a relationship with someone if there would be difficulty communicating. Maybe they didn’t want to expend that kind of energy on her if there were girls who could hear their lame come-ons five feet down the bar. That doesn’t mean they’re not jerks, but it’s a possible rationale.

Still, if she had to/was able to TELL you she was deaf, it doesn’t seem like there’s a lot of communication troble there. So I’ll go with the “they were insensitive jerks” stance.

I think you having a date with a deaf woman is the coolest thing I’ve ever heard. I have a friend that’s deaf and she is the absolute cat’s ass. Why anybody would turn down a date with her blows me away. And hey, I have to agree with dropzone, her being ditched by all the other dingleberries is definitely in your advantage.

(I just realised, none of that made much sense.)

aaaaaaaaaaanyways, have fun Wednesday night man! =)

Handy has some rather interesting comments re deaf girls.

Marry her.

That way, you can nudge her in bed and say “You want to go to sleep, or what?”

Then she’ll say “What?”

Gotcha!

Larmal… Pace yourself don’t blow a sprocket your first (day?-week?)
and thanks you all, but I forgot to mention, she can hear most of the time with a cool hearing aid that goes through her ear-bone and not her Ear canal-it’s nice
but I agree, I was so surprised to see that she was single, she is GORGEOUS!!!
sighs oh well… they don’t know what they are missing

sorry, the sound waves go through her ear canal, instead of her ear canal, it’s not like it’s drilled into her head or anything

My cousin’s married to a deaf girl. Her parent were deaf too, some congenital thing I think. All their kids can hear fine, and it’s one of the most stable relationships I know.
(actually, with his face, I thought if he ever got married she’d be a BLIND girl…)

I think I’ll let you figure out my point as an intellectual exercise.
