Shaman vs Spacemen

It’s pretty trendy nowadays to go to the jungle and speak with mother ayahuasca, who will - they say - help to bring the wisdom of the forest into your psyche and help inspire you to heal the planet and the human race.

Yet mankind looks destined for space migration, and it doesn’t look like we will take the forest with us, so will we at some point have to become detached from any “spiritual connection” with the Earth ?

Or do we have some sort of Silent Running deal in the works ?

Could you run that by again?

I rather suspect there’s not much overlap between the sort of people who try to commune with vegetation and those who want to colonize space.

If you can lift a human into space, establish an enclosed ecosystem and exploit space resources then you can drag along a few hundred acorns.

You’re asking why we don’t plan on tripping out on drugs when we venture out into space?
Because that would be a very stupid thing to do, and would probably get us killed in no time flat.

The earth is the womb of humanity, yes at some times we will need to leave the womb and become space borne. We lose a connection with our mother when we are born, the umbilical is cut, but that is only because we no longer require it for that level of life support, but the bond of Love between mother and child can never be severed. It is not a a spiritual detachment, but a time of spiritual evolution and growth and a celebration a time of great happiness as our attachment is now expanded to the travel-able areas of space. New friends, new places of attachment.

Depends. Some of the more famous trippers, Leary for instance, have been very into the idea of space migration. I think there’s a big overlap between counter culture, sci fi and space exploration.
But I can’t really see how the vogue for returning to nature via ayahuasca fits in with this, even though it’s proponents claim it is something that the future of humanity needs. Mostly it seems like some stuff the ayahuasceros come out with because they don’t know anything about modern technological civilization.
Or am I wrong ?
You could, for instance, have a read of this here Timothy Leary's Neurocomics! - Album on Imgur

That’s why we will wait until the straight edges have already colonized a new home and then we will bring the fun plants with us.

Folks, ayahuasca is a psychedelic brew. The only “communing” that you will be doing is with your drool.

Yeah, well I’m taking my cell phone.

Well, we’ll at least need to reach an escape velocity to detach from any “gravitational connection”.

Wait till you see the roaming charges.

Wait til you see where you end up when you try to run Google Map through your Ouija Board.

Crap.

You pups don’t know what Silent Running is do you ?

Sure-Overwrought illogical twaddle designed to pull at the heartstrings of the typical '70s movie goer.

Sir, you are describing most of the films made in the 1970s.

More than likely.

Soulless cynicism from the country that worships Ayn Rand. I’m not surpised. Don’t forget your ritalin.

  1. Ayn Rand’s philosophies and I are not exactly on speaking terms. A minute’s worth of research will show you that.
  2. Putting down Ritalin while espousing ayahuasca psycho psoup is not very consistent.
  3. What the hell does Silent Running have to do with this conversation(such as it is)?
