OK. The headline implies that a “Cyclops-like” fossil has been found.
However, it’s not the case. Just a tusk and some teeth. No skull.
Just some speculation that this ancient relative of elephants might have left fossil skulls behind, and ancient Mediterranean peoples, possibly seeing this skulls–with the enormous hole for the nasal cavity–mistook that for being a colossal eye socket for a one-eyed monster.
