Shameless Promotion of Two Up & Coming Broadway Events

First of all, I cleared this thread with Dex, and he said it’s okay to start it and bump it once.

For all NYC area people, there are two Broadway events coming up: On Sunday September 10th, starting at 11:30 a.m. is Broadway on Broadway, a FREE concert held in Times Square. Basiclaly the stars come out and do one song from current running shows, plus previews of shows opening this season (Broadway seasons run from September through June). It’s FREE and lots of fun.

The second event is the Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS Flea Market & Grand Auction set for Sunday, Septembe 24th from 10 alm. to 7 p.m. This is loads of fun, and a great way to get some great stuff very cheap (and not just threatre stuff–lots of people clear out their attics and donate to the event). There are always Broadway folks there, and it’s for a great cause–BC/EFA was the FIRST group organized for the specific purpose of helping the fight against AIDS.

Both of these events are marvelous, and well worth your time and effort.

BUmping my own thread to let NYC area people know that, if they are free this Sunday, they can head over to Shubert Alley and pick up some cheap stuff for a good cause.

Broadway on Broadway was really, really good this year, from Avenue Q’s soundcheck to Spamalot’s opening with “Always look at the bright side of life,” and a truly amazing ending from “Martin Short Fame Becomes Me.” The song was “Let the Big Black Woman Stop The Show” and indeed she did!

If you go and see someone wearing a black vest with Halloween symbols on it, it’s me.

I’ll be there for the whole day so I may run into you at some point. I also was at the Broadway on Broadway concert, right up at the front, which was excellent. I loved seeing Norm Lewis perform.
