Not sure if this is more suited to Cafe Society or IMHO…

I was at brunch last Sunday and as my friends are apt to do, over the course of the afternoon, people began playing with their phones. One of my friends showed us an app called “Secret.”

Basically, it allows you to share information anonymously and see content from other users. From what I can tell, it goes through your contact list on your phone and then if a friend or a friend of a friend shares something, it will be posted on your feed. You can either “love” a status or comment on it, where a random symbol will be attributed to all your comments within that thread. On one thread, you may be a green beetle, and on another you may be a blue skull. Additionally, you can see the secrets of strangers, provided one of your friends has “loved” it.

I’ll admit that I’ve been somewhat hooked on it, trying to guess what friends have posted particular content, and I’ve posted my own as well. I think it’s only for the iPhone, but an Android version is coming out soon.

So, are there any other apps that Dopers recommend?

Tasker for Android:

The app allows you to automate functions based on where you are, what wi-fi you are connected to, the cell towers you are near and many other options. I have it set up to adjust phone volumes depending on my location (i.e. silent at the movies, vibrate at work), open my grocery list at the grocery store, turn off my security at home so I don’t have to enter a pin but turn it on everywhere else, and prompt me if I want to listen to music or watch a movie when I plug in headphones and then open the appropriate app.

This is, without a doubt, my favorite app.
