I don’t trust any beer I can see through, or any man I can’t.
Time flies when you’re in a coma.
You’re just renting my skills- you’re not buying my soul.
Art is anything you can get away with.
Always yield to anything which outmasses you by more than two thousand pounds.
This I like.
Art without inspiration is craft.
Just because I don’t care doesn’t mean I don’t understand. (Ok, that was Homer Simpson)
Both good, but don’t you have another quote… I thought I remembered you saying something once before… Something about your mother, right?
“There’s always a break in the traffic.” Meant literally, like when you are waiting to turn at a busy intersection. I feel it probably has some deep meaning as well, but I don’t know what that might be.
Never attribute to Malice what Stupidity explains just as easily.
…unless you live in Jersey.
Oooh! Yes, that’s a good one from Blade Runner: “My mother? Let me tell you about my mother…”
Or were you thinking about that Spanish brat?
I thought of another quote while at work today.
“Trust is something earned but not stolen, while stealing is how you earn something without trust.”
We were discussing reporting thefts to management and it involved circular reasoning like this. Kind of annoying, but it makes a point.
I also feel like this should have a deeper meaning, but I’m not sure what it is. My contribution:
“You shouldn’t talk if you don’t know how to listen.”
I said this to my officemate, and he liked it so much he wrote it up on his markerboard and then asked who he should attribute the quote to. I answered proudly, “Me!”
How did I manage to mistype my own quote?
Beer before liquor, you’re a dumbass.
Just drink whiskey, it’s all good.
Paraphrased from Frank Zappa: Art is creating something from nothing, and then selling it.
From myself: Never ask someone else a question without first asking it of yourself.
My senior yearbook quote was something I made up: “No matter who you are or what you do, as long as I live there’s someone better than you.”
It went over much better than I expected.
I’ve never seen it written as a seperate quote by anyone but me but:
The atom bombs are piling up in the factories, the police are prowling through the cities, the lies are streaming from the loudspeakers, but the earth is still going round the sun, and neither the dictators nor the bureaucrats, deeply as they disapprove of the process, are able to prevent it.
George Orwell on spring and...toads.
I find it heartening. Only Eric Blair can start off with atom bombs and be heartening.
I don’t know who this is by:
Malt does more than Milton can to justify god’s way to man.
There wouldn’t be so much news if people would just stay home and quit doing stuff.
I may have to start using this.
I like mine, but I don’t think it’s terribly deep - “Everything’s getting so meta we’re all going to disappear up our own assholes.” It’s just something I said to Jim while we were watching tv or something, and I liked it enough to make it my sig for now.
Wherever you go, there you are.
