At the Stanford campus right this very moment, @1500U Wed 06 Dec 2023!
I searched to see if we already had a running thread on rainbows, but did not find any. I did however see this thread from 2008. From doper @congodwarf in April 2008:
Dude, NIIICE alignment!
This one greeted us for our 40th high school reunion. High school theatre building in the foreground. Another one of those double rainbows.
Back in January 2017 in San Francisco, at Candlestick Point, I caught this double rainbow on a dark, gloomy, overcast day.
A Pinkbow, taken from our back window at sunset. When the sun is setting, any rainbow that forms will be predominantly formed from red wavelengths.
This was the view from our hotel window in Montalcino when we went to Italy a few years ago.
This was taken in the back yard of our previous house on the last day we lived there. It looked like that rainbow ended right in front of me but I still couldn’t find the pot of gold.
Doesn’t seem to show up well, but the rainbow can be seen in the center towards the top.
This is such a lovely thread.
About a month ago, walking back to the car after a trip to the shops. Ehhh… click on the picture for the full image.

Whoa. It’s gonna be hard to top that one.
Yes it is. That’s a really nice one.
I had to look up where Lake Quinalt is. It’s in northwestern Washington state, right next to Olympic National Park, for those unaware.
Um, may I be the first to say, “damn.”
Thanks. It’s not a bad view.
