I’m trying to share my printer with my wife’s laptop wirelessly over the network from the Belkin Wireless-G router we have. From two computers with XP on them it’s a snap, but from my ME machine with my printer already set to share it won’t set-up correctly.
In the add printer wizard I set the radio button for “share over network” then it asks if I’d like to browse for it, I tick this button and can SEE the printer that I want to share on the network but when I select it I get a dialog box that says,
“Windows cannot connect to the printer. Either the printer name was typed incorrectly, or the specified printer has lost it’s connection to the server, click help for more information”
Now it has occurred to me that there may be drivers necessary to make this function correctly, but there is no place in the Add Printer wizard to direct it in order to have my wife’s XP laptop sending print jobs to my ME computer in some other manner.
Help please, XP hates WIN ME and so do I…
