Shaved Legs + Clean Sheets = One of my favorite things...

By far my face - not even a contest. For several reasons - many more curves etc, so you have to pay more attention to not cut yourself, and, the biggest one, my facial hair is way thicker and stiffer and generally an itchy PITA compared to my leg hair. And I’m too lazy to shave very often (again, the blond hair thing lets me get away with being lazy and not worrying about 5 o’clock shadows), so it’s usually grown out a 1/4 inch or so, which makes it a bit painful.

The legs take a lot longer, for sure, but I’ve only ever cut myself once - and I find the process strangely relaxing, whereas shaving my face is just an annoyance (but a necessary one, due to the inevitable itching if I wait too long). I’ll report back on relative difficulty of arms (and maybe chest and other places if I’m feeling brave… I am single right now, so no one really has to know, right?) I remember talking a friend’s brother who had shaved his entire body just to see what it was like… I don’t know if I’m up for that though

And Broken Doll, I do that anytime during the summer when it’s hot, and all I want is that one cool section, since I can’t stand my legs feeling hot under the covers…

Just curious. Why is one weird, but the other isn’t?

Personally, it would take a LOT to get me to shave more than my face (and, maybe, my head). Shaving my chest wouldn’t mean just the center, between my pecs. It would mean all the way across, and all the way down to my waistband. It’s not like I’m “wearing a sweater vest”, as someone put it, in another thread. But, my tummy IS fuzzy.

Arms? Umm…well, I have hair all the way up, and across my shoulders, to where they meet in the middle of my back. The density varies from moderate to light, depending on the area, but how do you decide where to stop?

If you’re talking about your naughty bits, you might want to prepare yourself for some major itching when it grows back.

Cough… ahem not if you do it regularly  … cough…

See, it doesn’t matter how often I do it, it still makes me insane.

Because shaving arms and legs has practical value for my sport (in case of a crash), whereas chest/elsewhere would purely be for vanity, assuming I did it regularly - ie, harder to explain if someone asked me, “Why the hell did you shave _____.” I suppose there’s plenty of body builders and other men that shave everywhere just to look “better.” Although I’ve never met a girl that wanted a hairless chest on a guy, so I don’t know why some guys do it. I’d just try it to see how it felt, because I’m curious

As for the “tender bits,” they will remain the way they are unless I’m with a girl that prefers them shaved or trimmed, in which case I’d be perfectly happy to oblige (if I’m going to expect it from them, it’s really only fair IMO). Although that has yet to happen, I am mentally prepared for it if it does

I looooooooove shaven legs and clean sheets. It feels so soft! I have some sheets that are made of t-shirt like material. Fantastic!
But shaving my bikini line… owie. Even when I shave it with shaving cream in the tub, I still get red bumps. And days later… MAJOR itchage.

Hi, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Branwen, and I like guys with hairless chests. There, now you’ve met one.

I wouldn’t ask a man to go through the trouble of shaving, but if he already does I wouldn’t complain.

I’ve read the descriptions, and the only thing I can do is {{{sigh}}}

You’re right fly! There is nothing better. When I wash my sheets, I make sure that I take a lot of time in an aromatherapy bath, do a pedicure (if I’m not feeling lazy), shave, facial…you get the picture. I take extra care of my skin before I slip between the sheets. I too have a fan above my bed, which is soooo comforting.

I think I’m going to have to do it tomorrow.

Beckwall heaven = clipped finger/toenails, plucked eyebrows and best of all, hairless legs that were shaved in a HOTEL tub so that someone else has to clean out the nasty little stubblies.

How does shaving your legs help in case of a crash? I know runners do it to make removing the tape on their legs easier, but what about cycling?

Aerodynamics I’m guessing. But then again, it’s just a guess.

Road rash = Bad

Road rash + leg hair = EEeeeeeyikes!

Umm…one quick personal add-on to Branwen’s comment to flybynight…I agree, but a guy shaving his chest seems weird. And stubble on the chest would be gross. Waxing would be my preference for a guy (hey, if I have to wax my eyebrows and legs, he can at least wax a little off his chest).

**Jamie

I use a shave oil spray (King of Shaves for Women - think its a US brand) and the Venus razor for women (Gillette)… the combo of these is the best for non-itchiness after. Try it - believe me … I give it a million gold stars

I agree ** jamesinwonderland**. If a man is going to do his chest, waxing would probably be best.

Rhino’sHoney, I don’t think King of Shaves is a U.S. product. I can’t find it here anywhere, and the majority of the websites that carry it are UK sites.

Just shaved my legs… mmmmmm… soft… mmmmm

Looking at it again, they could be English - but try mailing them and maybe see who stocks it local to you??? If its not too expensive to try, get it… or I could send you a bottle??

Rhino’sHoney, you rock. Thank you.

That about sums it up  Takes longer to heal (or so it seems), is a harder to clean out/keep clean, is a lot more nasty to look at (at it’s bad enough already), any bandaging is a lot more painful to take off, etc. This can obviously apply to arms as well…

I really don’t know where the aerodynamic thing started - I think I saw a study sometime that concluded, at best, shaving would save about 2 seconds in a 40k time trial (which isn’t much). I have no idea how they figured that out, or how valid it is. I think it makes a much bigger difference to swimmers, in those regards.
It’s also something of a status symbol, I suppose - it shows you mean business. Some guys won’t even ride next to someone who doesn’t shave, for whatever reason (I think we’re a different breed from “normal” folks, us racers…)

ironic side note, last weekend I had myself a little spill that scraped up my arm nicely, but didn’t touch my legs - all after taking the trouble to shave my legs. I guess that’s another reason to try doing my arms as well when it’s all healed…
