I’ve been shaving my head for about five or six years. I use a Gillette Mach 3 razor. I’ve done this with no problem until recently.
In the last two or three months, I’ve been suffering from what I assume are ingrown hairs. I get these little red bumps on my scalp that are not only visually unappealing but are also painful to the touch.
I always make sure I’m using a sharp blade, and I usually use “sensitive skin” shaving cream. I’m not at all sure what has changed recently to make this problem crop up. I do know that my hair seems to be tougher than it used to be, and that seems to coincide with the onset of these ingrown hairs. But it’s puzzling to me that this problem just appeared all of a sudden. If it was simply a matter of my hair getting tougher, you’d think the onset of the problem would have been gradual.
Could this be a matter of nutrition? The problem started roughly around the time I became unemployed a couple months ago. I’ve been eating differently (cheaper) since then.
Any ideas what’s causing this, and how I might solve it?
