She stood up! She stood up! She by-God stood up!

Hooray! Yay for Ogre-mom! She sounds like a strong, strong woman. May she continue getting better and better!

Ogre, I’m so glad to hear it. That is such fabulous news. Very, very good news.

Here’s to a quick recovery.

I’ll bet she looked nine feet tall. That’s awesome. We’re pulling for y’all.

That’s fantastic. Here’s wishing you and your mom well.

Hey, everybody! Thanks for the warm wishes and the expressions of support! She still has a long way to go and several other problems with which to cope (she’s diabetic, for one thing,) but I’m happy to see that her native obstinacy has reasserted itself.

Nym, butterscotch pudding sounds great, but I was thinking of making her some sugar-free banana-nut ice cream.

Oh, man, that’s awesome, Ogre. Your post makes me wish I could’ve been there to see it. Tell her I totally admire her.

Now this just simply rocks!
Where’s a “Thumbs-Up” smiley when you need one?

My heart was in my throat reading that, dear Ogre. I’m so very, very happy that she’s on the road to recovery now. Many wonderful thoughts and prayers winging your way, for you, Ogre-mom, and the rest of the Ogre family.

You have always given me the bestest hugs, my friend; here are some for you and your momma.

:frowning: I’m so sorry, John Carter. Remember her love, her smile, all the good stuff, and keep her close to your heart that way. That’s what I try to do.

Thanks again, king of spain, Tranquilis, and purrplebear.

Hey purp, it makes me smile that you remember that thread. That must have been my first appearance at SDMB.

::Ogre-hug for purp::

Sincere best wishes and prayers for her recovery and for strength for all the Ogre family as she regains her strength and coordination. I know nothing can be more of a strain than seeing a loved one laid low by a stroke, and my prayers are with you.

And, because right about now you need a good laugh to help ease the strain, and in hopes that you’ll share it with her if her sense of humor would make it funny to her…

When I looked at the MPSIMS menu, this thread was preceded by a GQ-y question about the late Queen Mother, resulting in:

Great news!

Be sure you do your best to keep her spirits up. That’s the hard part. I know from experience it’s all to easy for stroke patients to fall into depression and never come back (happened to my father).
