Sheriff Clarke resigns!!!

Surprised nobody opened a thread on this.

Sheriff Clarke abruptly resign on Thursday, August 31, 2017. This is an actual resignation, not a take back like when he was caught plagerizing.

As some of you know I have been a vocal opponent of Clarke and his narcissistic way he abuses taxpayer dollars and citizens rights.

It appears that Clarkes scandal ridden tenure was even too much for the Trump Administration:

Earlier this year, while serving as DHS Secretary, Kelly had informed Clarke that an appointment to that department would not happen in part due to scandal surrounding the treatment of inmates in Clarke’s jail, and the ensuing negative media attention. ***

It appears that he is taking a position instead with pro-Trump super PAC America First Action.

The last 5 years of my first career were served under Clarke. At first even I believed he was a leader who could get things done.

I quickly learned I was wrong.

Unfortunately Clarke became a darling of the hard right, of which I am a member of. But I refused to hang my hat on him as my representative of those causes. This laughably has me tagged as a liberal on other message boards. Most of you on these boards know how ridiculous that is.

Now the current governor can appoint a real Sheriff. A law man that takes his oath of office as an honor to serve the community, not just his massive ego.

Glad to hear it. I remember your talk about him.

It was discussed at the end of this thread:

Left, right, or in-between, we shouldn’t be giving jackasses like Clarke any meaningful fraction of the power that Clarke had. Good riddance.

shrug Next week he’ll probably be Trump’s new Attorney General. There are no silver linings anymore.

There is a reason Clarke was so desperate to find another position and bail as Sheriff:

He was going to get blown out of the water in next years election.

Let me explain:

Clarke runs as a Democrat because a Republican cannot get elected Sheriff in Milwaukee County. This is because of City of Milwaukee voters not voters of the surrounding municipalities.

Wisconsin is an open primary state. During the last couple of elections there have been few if any major primary battles on the Republican side during years that the Sheriff was also up for re-election. This means voters who normally vote Republican could cross over and vote in the Democratic primary. White, otherwise conservative Republican voters allowed Clarke to win the Democratic primary and thus also the general election.

Next year there will be major primaries on the Republican side. For U.S. Senate is a big one. Many of those that were crossing over in the primary will stay on their own side of he fence.

Without those voters he was looking to lose the primary no better than 60-40, possibly even 70-30% or worse. Clarke simply cannot win his primary without those voters.

And his ego couldn’t handle a loss, especially of that magnitude.

That asshole and that fat POS in Arizona are exhibits A and B for why sheriff should not be an elected position.

His proposed job in the Trump administration was killed by Kelly. Trump would have been happy to have him onboard, because if there’s one thing Trump loves it’s a guy who can bluff and bluster and strut and shout.

I’m fairly certain we haven’t seen the last of him. His move into the wingnut-welfare circuit will just give him more opportunity to show up on TV panels as an “expert” in whatever talking points are hot that day. So, we will likely see his too-big hat on his tiny cranium, his myriad of cracker-jack-prize flash pins, and his unshaved-muff-mouth shouting nonsense more than we have already.
