I believe there are people who, if they saw a film of Obama being born under a palm tree in Hawaii, they would say it was faked. They seem so desparate to do anything they can to null his presidency, or do all they can to try to see that he will fail at all he does,and have done so (it seems) since the day he was sworn into office.That is their problem,not Obama’s!

You just described my father in law to perfection. No amount of evidence will convince him that the President was born in the US. We have gone round and round over it and he finally just flat out stated that there is nothing that will change his mind and he refuses to believe anything other than what he wants to believe.
I wish I could flat out ask him if it is because of race, but in the interest of family harmony, I just let it go.
To tell you the truth, if I saw such a film, I would also think it was faked.

We don’t do quarries in AZ. We do forgotten mine shafts. Of course, we don’t throw random stuff down them, just bodies and then enough rocks to cover them.

What I found weird was that, when this first happened, this appeared on BBC headlines, under a title that acted like they actually took the news seriously (something like: “Obama’s long form birth Certificate a fake”). Yeah, they pulled it within 24 hours, but for a while the headline writers were clearly taking the side that something had actually been found.
As for the other topic of this thread: Stick him on ignore and DNFTT. Not because it’ll make him stop, but ignore doesn’t work if you guys keep talking about it. Sucks that we have to use Fark.com’s “moderation techniques” on this board, but them’s the breaks.

Honestly this has revealed an ugliness not so much about race really(everyone knew that was there) but about nationality and foreigness.
Apparently some Americans actually believe that having a non-citizen father disqualifies someone from being natural born and the president.
That being a dual citizen by birth disqualifies you from being a real American, as if Obama can help what Kenya thinks of him.
That having a non-citizen step dad causes you to lose your US citizenship.
That spending time overseas as a child causes you to lose your US citizenship.
That traveling under another countries passport causes you to lose your US citizenship.
Every single one of those is false and a claim I have seen various birthers make, and I cannot believe anyone could believe them.
Nah, McCain was born abroad and nobody cared.
Dukakis was a first generation American and nobody cared.
My thought as I read your post was more like The Boys From Brazil. But in this case, they took one chance, rather than many, like in the story, and damn, it succeeded! But what if Obama had developed a childhood disease and died of mumps, or became autistic, or was born with a congenital heart defect, or died in a plane crash, or any of a thousand other scenarios? Obviously, they are all-powerful, because they had no backup plan (that we know of!) and so succeeded on their very first try! They are to be feared! And since we don’t even know who they are, they could be anyone! Anywhere! Doing anything! We’re doomed!

I took it to mean: “Of course it would have to be faked; baby Obama was born in Hawaii, not President Obama.” If I saw a video of President Obama being born (yeesh! how very uncomfortable it would have to be!) it would have to be faked!
But maybe this says more about me than about the issue…
