I’m about to ask someone for a really difficult favor. I don’t have cable/netflix/hulu whatever, and the library doesn’t have it yet.
Could someone check out the beginning of The Empty Hearse and report back how long, in seconds, the audio portion of Sherlock getting the piss beat out of him by that Serbian torturer lasts?
I’m not interested in the talking/whispering part, just the sounds of the beating - start to finish.

Sorry. I just checked and season 3 is not up on Netflix yet.
I haven’t rewatched in a month or more, so I guess I’m due anyway. With the DVD loaded up and using an online stopwatch, I get 23 seconds. This is from the first noise a couple of seconds after you see the outside guard with the earbuds, until the last “thud” at a visible punch you can see through the keyhole.
After that there’s still a bit of verbal threats and hair-pulling, and a windup with the pipe, but no no more punches or pipe contact, as Sherlock distracts him with cuckolding fears.

Oh. I thought you had pirated it and the subtitles separately and you wanted to get them in synch. Er, not that I know you can do it with simple editing of the subtitle file. Or that it looks lots harder with .SRT files. (What older kind of file didn’t I ever do this with? You just reset the time for the first caption and everything fell into place. Or so I heard. :rolleyes:)
