Shiny-headed gentlemen of the Dope, advice please

Well, I have two silver earrings and a Shenandoah, but that’s basically how I went. I think I look silly either way, so I just stopped cutting it.

Scabpicker-a-mania is running about the same as it ever was.

I’ve been shaving my head for over 20 years now. The standard routine is: Harry’s 5-blade razor, Harry’s shave gel, hot shower, M-W-F. Smooth scalp paired with a Van Dyke (it isn’t a goatee. A goat has a moustache separate from the chin fur. If it’s an ouroboros around your mouth, it’s a Van Dyke!)

No earring, though.

Thanks everyone. Plenty of good advice here. I haven’t done anything about it yet, but I’m better informed than I was.

I have been shaving my head for a couple of decades now, and I’ve never bothered with anything fancier than just using the trimmer on my electric shaver. My mom has always said that she likes the way my shaved head looks, and she most certainly would be the first person to get on my case about doing something different if the way that I’ve always done it wasn’t up to snuff.

I used a HeadBlade. Very easy and didn’t even have to see what I was doing after the first few days. HeadBlade ATX Razor - Original | Best Skull, Head Shaving Razor

I have a Headblade and use it occasionally. The blades are sharp, very sharp, like drawing blood sharp. If you have any imperfections on your skin, like a mole or small pimple, they will be shaved off. I think your scalp needs to be conditioned to handle it.

I heard someone refer to this hairstyle as Bradshawin.’

that!

the main benefit over a clearly shaven head is: just like in a 3-day-beard, nobody cares if its 3, 5 or 9 days old. The same is true for applying #1 guard to your head…

I can easily get away with trimming once every 3 weeks or so … If I shaved my head, I’d have to do so daily or every other day … way too much hassle for me

… and my short hair does not detract from my classically good looks

thx for pointing this out …

SOOOOO true … lots of minor head scratches and nicks from stuff I walk into, also … as you say, the splitsecond of earlier “heads-down” … and the fact that your head-fur also has a protective functions - make it more frequent to draw blood on the ol’ bowling ball.

and another +1 on the hat collection … summer and winter really call for some coverage

Yeah, my first winter as a head shaver, it really surprised me to find out firsthand how much an insulator my hair had been. I guess it shouldn’t have, but it wasn’t something I’d given much thought to.

I always wondered what you do about moles. I feel a couple moles on my scalp about the diameter of pencil erasers, not quite as tall. Can they somehow be removed, or would I have to carefully shave around them every time? Seems like they wouldn’t look good.
