Shiny Stiff Paper Nativity Scenes

When I was a little kid, I always looked forward to going to our local IGA store at Christmas time because they gave away (or we purchased…I can’t recall) nativity sets that came in a magazine size/type “book.”

The figures had been scored and you “punched them out.” The characters had slots/tabs that fit together so they would stand up. Included was a stable that you assembled the same way. They were glossy, sort of stained-glass looking cut-outs (or whatever the word is that I’m looking for.) I don’t think that anyone else except my Dad remembers these.

Does anyone know what I’m talking about? Do they exist anymore? I’ve been searching and searching, but I can’t put together the correct terminology or phrase to find what I’m looking for.

You mean like a paper doll nativity? http://cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-Whitman-Punch-Out-Heavy-Paper-Nativity-Set-doll_W0QQitemZ350131818533QQcmdZViewItem

OH. MY. BABY JESUS.

I am stunned, I tell you…stunned. That is EXACTLY and I mean exactly what I’ve been looking for for year. Sincere thanks, indeed!

You’re welcome.
