When I first discovered the SDMB, and I saw high post counts, I thought geez, what a bunch of sorry assed losers without any jobs or responsibilities .
Then I became one of you. It is the finest group of people I’ve never seen, met or could recognize in a police line up. But I’m proud to call you Dopers. You’ve made me laugh, you’ve made me cry, you’ve made me think ( dammit) and you’ve made me change my opinions and possibly, my religion, a few times.
I’ve learned about your drunken escapades, secret fantasy lives, bible toting coworkers and everything I’ve ever wanted to know about the closeted bi-guy but never thought to ask. We’ve walked down memory lane with “When we use to play outside” and " Books from our Childhood" to"Embarrassing things said during intimate moments." To the " I apologize" thread. I’ve learned here more than I ever did in school. I’ve never won a mock election here, you wankers, however, in fairness, I’ve whined incessantly about things and have received only support ( or low post count )
I’ve stolen your jokes and one liners and have given everyone the best of Command Post Mundania when they happen, if they happen.
:::sniff::::Thanks.
Naturally, my household responsibilites have suffered greatly since discovering this place. It’s worse than a heroin-caffiene freebasing.
I shall continue my duties of posting in the most mundane and useless information, hijacking threads and other tom foolery to the best of my abilities.
I cannot tell you how many times I’ve nearly had to call 911 because your posts make me laugh so hard I swear I’ve herniated something. Or how many times I’ve had to tell my three-year-old “not now, honey, Mommy can’t breathe.”
DRY, I agree completely with you with the “Anyone who likes Lion in Winter” has impeccable taste. Sometimes I think that I am the only person that has ever watched it.
My conversations with people and their favorite movies are usually like this:
Me:“What’s your favorite movie?”
Schmoe: " South Park. What’s your’s"
Me: “You’ve never heard of it.”
Schmoe: " I see alot of movies, I bet I have."
Me.[shrugging]" Lion in Winter"
Schmoe " Never heard of it. Who’s in it?"
Me: " Oh you know, Jim Carrey as King Henry. Tori Spelling as Queen Elinor, Steve Bucemi as Prince Geoffery, David Spade as John and Robert Downey Jr. as Price Richard the Lion Heart."
Congrats. I’ve gone mostly to FFF, one reason being that they still block SD from me at work. I work in the lab and of 8 hours of work, 2-3 hours are waiting, for results , reaction etc. I have endless 5 min waits to post wherever. So no, not a jobless loser, but I do have a little time. I don’t have the time to read all the posts here, even if it were not blocked, the FFF I can keep up with.
Net communities all change. But it’s good to see a few familiar names still here after a year or so.
Ahh, but Cheify, you and you alone received blow pops from me. So, in essense, it is you that sucks, not moi
Now, back to work, sailor. Go swab something.
Techie - Sorry, this 2000 post thing kinda caught me off guard. I’ll fill up the hot tub, get the weinieson the bar b que and break out the kegs.
Many, many congrats to you, Shirley! I haven’t been here long enough to have read all of your posts, but those that I have read, I have enjoyed thoroughly. Here’s to many more!
Now, did I hear something about a hot tub? Point the way!
Oh, ChiefScott, that’s ok, you’re forgiven. You were no doubt distracted by all of the sharks swimming around your boat, watching you avidly. ::insert smilie with big grin and winking::
Seale, what were you distracted by? Shanin, perhaps?
