A long time ago, I learned this mnemonic for cookie recipes. Barring unusual circumstances, all you need from a cookie recipe is the list of ingredients. You always combine them in that order. Blend the sugar and shortening (butter, margarine or actual shortening), add the eggs, then add the flour and other dry ingredients, and finally the milk or whatever liquid is called for.
But it’s incomplete. There should be a v after the e, because the vanilla goes in the same time as the eggs. And perhaps another letter after the m, for extras such as chocolate chips or molasses. And besides that, it’s kind of corny. Can anyone suggest an updated, clean version that does something creative with the f?
