Shitkicker vs. shitsquisher?

Those of us from livestock-intensive regions have some acquaintance with one or both of these terms.

I always assumed a 'squisher was the worse insult, being too dumb to kick it and instead walking right into it. 'Zat about right?

Huh. And I thought shitkickers were just a type of shoe. “Put on your shitkickers and kick some shit” as the song went… Never knew it was an insult. Never heard “shitsquisher,” either. But I don’t come from a livestock-intensive region.

Difference between a country boy and a city boy? Country boy doesn’t watch where he steps.

It’s very important to know the difference between shit and shinola.

Rural Wisconsin. Never heard of a shitsquisher.

Moved to IMHO.

I’m from rural Montana, and used to own a small ranch. I’ve always heard shitkickers referring to boots, not people. Never heard the term shitsquisher.

Rural Georgia (US) upbringing, uncle raised cattle . Add me to the “kickers are shoes, squishers I’ve never heard tell of” camp.

It seems to me that, prior to drying, kicking would amount to a bigger mess (and be more intentionally stupid) than stepping in (squishing) . Once fully dried, kicking is fun, squishing is like stepping on grass. YMMV.

Ohio and Tennessee.

Squisher?

“shitsquisher” gets 39 Google hits, the first of which is this thread.

“shitkicker” gets 83,200.
Yeah, I’ve never heard “shitsquisher” before either.

I’m from eastern Washington and this is pretty much how I use the term.

Grew up in West Texas and am certain I never once heard the term “shitsquisher.” “Shitkicker” was ubiquitous though.

OK, fuck it. I thought they were, or should be, related.

Southern California, grew up on a ranch, ate a lot of dust, got barb-wire scars in places you wouldn’t believe. Heard “shitkicker” for years, but never heard “shitsquisher” until today.

Also fond of “goat-roper.”
