There are many other instructive sources you might consider emulating, if not I. I’ve spoken before of some of them. I’ll be happy to provide a list, assuming you might be more comfortable with someone who shares a closer political philosophy with you.
Exactly. This is not a court case. If it was, I’d argue differently. In court cases, i’s have to be dotted, t’s crossed and everything spelled out in excruciating detail.
For a board that has so many self-congratulating smart people, it is a bit sad that the knowledge and arguments have to come pre-chewed to be consumed.
God forbid you should have to go to the effort of assembling semifacts and insinuations yourself to persuade people. Smart people should just be able to read your mind and persuade themselves.
Bricker, the reason elucidator is making that accusation is because there are literally hate website with that kind of info for people to parrot along.
You might think people should have reasoned, OK debates with everyone, but I for one am perfectly OK with the argument “You are literally a Nazi so shut the fuck up”.
Anything to say about post #123?
Daily Caller staffer detected.
Terr didn’t ask for that cite, and I did not post it with any expectation it would affect his thinking. The fact that he cannot or will not explain any overarching viewpoint speaks for itself.
You don’t say.

It’s disturbing to me that you say, “Exactly,” and then go on to dodge the request for a defined précis of your argument, an action which is anything but “exactly,” what I asked for.
Perhaps you should consider that among the smart people, no one has stepped forward to identify your exact claim yet. The problem is thus exposed as the claim, not the people.
Of course, I could be wrong…which you can demonstrate by precisely and specifically laying out your argument. Go ahead.
You shouldn’t be. That’s not an argument. The Nazi is entitled to observe that you lack the apparent ability to refute his argument. Much better to explain why the Nazi argument is full of shit than to rely on the distaste people have for Nazis. And what if someone else, not a Nazi, comes along and makes the same argument. Is your response, “That’s the same thing a Nazi said, so shut the fuck up?”
I have it on good authority that Himmler once said the water is composed of hydrogen and oxygen. Is he wrong because he’s Himmler?
Don’t forget Morton Downey jr., that whacko former right-wing TV host who faked an incident where he was beaten up by some skinheads in a bathroom who supposedly drew a swastika on his face. He lost his show because of it IIRC.
Well, there are very, very few Klansmen, and apparently none at all on this campus. So my concern is that people might react to imaginary incidents by treating non-racist whites or Asians badly. I have less confidence than you apparently do in the ability of people to turn their feelings on and off, especially when there are trolls doing their part to enrage them.
Regards,
Shodan
Anyway, I’m not sure what the point of the OP is.
That the racist douche bags who did this were actually left-wing whites trolling for attention instead of right-wing whites?:dubious:*
Being liberal doesn’t make you a saint any more than being a conservative makes you a bad person.
Hell, lots of liberals have done vastly worse things.
*. Please, let’s not get into some tedious argument over whether or not the people who did this were racist or not. If I’m caught putting nooses on the door handles of black churches just because I say, “Hey, I’m not a racist, in fact I’m a liberal. I was just trying to scare people” doesn’t mean I’m not a racist douche bag.
No, but at the same time I don’t think I’m going to convince a literal Nazi to change his opinion - it’s a waste of time. If someone is basically spamming info from hate groups and ignoring anyone who tries to have a discussion with them, it is a waste of time to try to talk to this person, and is far more effective at pointing out who they are and what they are doing than squabbling in the dirt and pretending they deserve acknowledgement.
Well, if you’re concerned that the people on this campus are that racist, apparently these rallies were a good idea after all.
Right. And wouldn’t it be hypocritical, or evidence of some kind of bias, if the rallies were canceled once it came out that one of the vandals calls himself a liberal? Surely racist behavior is deplorable no matter what the racist’s politics are.
A teaching moment, an opportunity to engage reality and align your opinion accordingly. If these kids don’t know that there are assholes to the left of Calvin Coolidge, or that there are men who will exploit good causes to stupid and/or malign ends…now’s as good a time as any to find out.
We are not that ugly facts aren’t so, we are so that they might no longer be. And if our great great grandchildren read of these ugly facts we faced, and they don’t believe it, they cannot imagine men were ever so evil…
So much the better.
Just one more.
The black St. Peter’s Prep student who purportedly received racist text messages warning him to drop out of the Jersey City high school’s student government election sent the texts to himself, a school official confirmed last week.
BTW, Oberlin administration has yet to inform its students that the racists (if that is what they were) that were behind the incidents are leftists and members of the anti-racist groups.
That’s horrible!
Soooooo…what are we debating about this?
Denounce, renounce, condemn. Anything else?
