How did you happen upon this?
I was reading a wrestling columnist’s opinions on a wrestler in Germany doing a Nazi salute and all the trouble it’s gotten him in, and at the bottom he had a link to it calling it “the coolest thing of all time.”
Oh my God! It’s so awesome, I can barely stand to sit at my desk. I feel the need to bust a move/kick Decepticon ass.
I miss that show. Is it still on anywhere? Nickelodeon, maybe?
OMGOMGOMG! I think I’m going to go lock myself in my room and watch that over and over and over again.
Aieeeeee! Coolest. Thing. EVAR!
I can’t believe I’m going to be this geeky, but…
The dancing guy (that transformed into the cassette player) was Soundwave.
Shockwave was much cooler, as he transformed into a laser gun, was purple, and battery-powered.
D’oh! :smack:
Well, considering I’ve not seen the show for many years, I was close. That’s got to count for something.
That really is just way too cool… Nostalgia mixed with high tech… Is retrotech a word? Awesome. I could watch that continuously.
Just awesome…of course now that electronic theme is going to be running through my head all night.
Wasn’t Soundwave also able to eject a casette that turned into a dog, and another that turned into a bird?
The one that turned into a bird was Laserbeak, who was supposed to be the little guy dancing at the end- except he can’t do that, he could only do the red and white pterodactyly thing- bit of a mistake there. The other three tapes were two which turned into regular little robots with piledriver arms and one which turned into a cat.
Ravage was the panther. Rumble was the guy whose arms turned into piledrivers. Frenzy was one of those robots who had some pretty interesting powers at least as far as the toy that you bought in the store, but the cartoon show didn’t really do anything with those powers – he had the same standard-issue laser gun that basically everyone else had. Laserbeak and Buzzsaw were the two birds.
Nah, the tape Decep in the video was named Lazer, not laserbeak, and it looks like they made him up for the video as a sort of mascot. If you look at the bottom of the page you can see a credit for Lazer Music Production.
Dude, that’s even sweeter than ninjas.
Forgive me the slight hijack, but anybody else here still have their Optimus Prime? FWIW, Astrotrain is propped on top of my monitor (in space-shuttle configuration).
I have an Armada version of Optimus Prime on top of my G5, another one at home and a Megatron too. My original Gen 1 toys are in a box at my parents somewhere in the loft, so I should still have the original there. And the rest, Grimlock being my favourite.
Now a flash animation of Grimlock bodypoppin’, that’s something i’d pay good money to see.
No workee, neither at home, nor at work.
I had no luck with Firefox, but IE played the flash animation without any problem.
For me, the best part was the brief background shot of Lazer’s statistics; strength, firepower, leadership, speed, etc, ranked 1 through 10. Back In The DayTM we used those and a jerry-rigged combat system to simulate massive Autobot vs Decepticon wars in the backyard. A measuring tape to determine how far a given transformer could move on a turn, dice to determine whether the attack would hit at the given range, and so on.
That was, indeed, cooler than ninjas. Cooler than ninja pirates, to be precise.
But was it cooler than Ninja Pirate Transformers that could play guitar so sweet it just made you want to crap your pants?
Link worked fine on Safari, took a while to load though.
Nope. That was Galvatron, the upgraded Megatron.
I believe that Shockwave was one of the fighter jets.
Oops. Guess I was kinda wrong. Shockwave was also a purple gun, BUT Galvatron was a purple gun too!!
Destructicons were the badest-ass ones thoough.
