there is no contest, there cannot be any dispute to this:
The Transformer G1 series in the 80s were by far the best cartoon ever created on God’s green earth. Optimus Prime was the leader of all leaders. I am thoroughly convinced that if Optimus Prime were President, we’d have found Osama in 5 mins. We would have peace in the Middle East, India and Pakistan would be best friends and Hurricane Katrina would’ve been defeated at sea.
my rankings:
Transformers G1
GI Joe
He Man
Justice League
Voltron (Lion one only, the gay spaceship one needed to die painfullly)
i debated on Tranzor Z, it was a high quality 'toon, complete w/ female robot who could shoot her boobs off as weapons, which gave Z a soft porn like quality that i admired. However, I couldn’t place it above Voltron and JLA…but good call though.
i can’t believe I forgot Thundercats, i even have a football jersey of the thundercats logo (right next to the jersey w/ the decepticons logo, soooooo coool!)
i remember my eyes popping out when Cheetara was nekkid in the initial episode. As usual, all my threads return to the fact that i had a boner there too.
Everyone know that the greatest cartoon of the 80’s, and in fact of all time, is Dangermouse. DangerMouse was a smooth british agent with an assistant named Penfold. Basically, a cartoon James Bond but with better one liners.
The main villain was Baron Silas Greenback who also would toss off great quotes like the one in my sig.
Was Star Blazers 80s or late 70s? Those decades are all a blur now. Bosda is correct, Robotech must be on the list. I was also a fan of C.O.P.S., although that was very short-lived, as was another favorite of mine, Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers.
I have never ever understood the He-Man love. ANY Filmation cartoon was crap. Fat Albert, Flash Gordon, He-Man…the animation sucked and the voice acting was worse.
Wow…my childhood has just been dredged cold and lifeless from the past and thrust into my lap. I haven’t thought about many of these shows in so long…how awesome.
Did anyone else get up waaaaay early on Saturdays to watch Cities of Gold and Sparticus? Those were fantastic cartoons.
But what about:
The Snorks
The Smurfs
Gummi Bears
Dungeons and Dragons
Count Duckula
Bananaman
Alvin and the Chipmunks
Ewoks
Robotech
