Shodan crosses the line

Let me make sure I understand your question before I answer. Are you defending those who broadly attribute disagreement with Obama with racism? Are you making my point for me? Or did you perhaps interpret my post to imply that I thought there were no racists who hate Obama because he’s black?

If it’s the latter, let me clarify: there is a greater-than-zero group of people (I don’t know the number) who hate Obama principally because he’s black. That is not, however, a good foundation for assuming most disagreements with the president are motivated by racism.

Yes, yes, you’re making my point. You cannot conceive of any counter argument, therefore it doesn’t exist. It is simply axiomatic for you that you’re right, therefore no debate is possible. It’s all white noise, pretending to be argument, but it can’t be, it’s so self-evidently wrong.

By the way, you want “conservatives” to be a monolithic group who uniformly hold ideas you can knock down, but even there you’re wrong.

Just to respond to this: it seems to me like on the first page, most of the posters were of the conclusion that this was a pretty stupid thread title.

You misunderstand - I’m not saying there are no arguments, I’m saying I’ve heard what republicans by and large have to offer and it’s crap. Complete and utter garbage with no redeeming value.

Well said, Jim.

We should all keep in mind that BG has some of the whackiest political ideas of anyone on this MB. And that’s fine. Great for him. Not sure why he so smugly thinks he’s right all the time, but who really cares. Fortunately, there are plenty of sane lefties on this board who can represent that side well.

You forgot to mention all the Pittings and abuse the lefties heaped on anyone who dared to use the McConnell quote as evidence of anything. There must have been almost one, at least!

It’s hard to argue with this, at least without a stiff drink.

I understood perfectly. There’s no equivalency; there’s no balance; there’s right and there’s wrong, and you have decreed that your tribe is on the side of the angels. There is simply no good argument you have heard on the other side. It’s all crap. I get it.

To be fair, when haven’t you smugly thought you were right?

So, *you *got anything? :dubious:

Elvis, you are the worst offender, frankly. Just to confirm: do you truly believe that the lack of response to your “so, prove to me that it’s not objectively so that the Republican party is immoral and devoid of an agenda other than hate and obstruction” is evidence that you’re correct, that you have an objective truth? Could it be that it’s an idiotic question? Think hard now before you answer.

So, no you don’t, just whining.

The Elections forum has become a de facto Politics Pit. I’m not sure if that’s good or bad, but it probably keeps a lot of bile-spewing out of GD.

The problem here is that your first sentence is inconsistent with your last.

Do you truly believe that Elvis thinking hard about this - or anything else FTM - (assuming he’s capable of such a feat) is ever going to accomplish anything? Think hard now before you answer.

Still thinking about it, I see. Take all the time you need.

“Straight Dope News - fair and balanced.”

I’m confused. I don’t remember anyone arguing that the McConnell was being taken out of context. Can someone link such an argument, made before the comment made by Shodan?

I’ll admit that, unlike Bricker, Shodan doesn’t actually seem to be here to fight liberal ignorance but rather to rub people’s noses in it, and that makes him more annoying than Bricker (in politics), but it’s nothing new and no line has been crossed.

As for the racist thing, it’s largely not conscious. All I do is put Clinton in Obama’s place. If things still work, it isn’t racist. If they don’t, then it is, whether people mean it to be or not. Racism isn’t just about people who hate black people. It’s about seeing people of a difference race as an OTHER.

Trolling isn’t crossing a line?

Defining “trolling” as “posting opinions at variance with the latest leftist spin” or “giving as good as you get on a liberal messageboard” - that’s crossing a line.

Shodan

You actually think “Yer all dum an you suck” is an opinion! That’s so cute!

You know what trolling is, having confessed to it previously.

There’s a differnce. I am right.
