Oh, look, the troll thinks he’s “giving as good as he gets”!
When are you two lovebirds going to stab and make up?

In your case, a great deal better, but I generally try to transcend that sort of Special Olympics level of achievement.

Let’s say that John Boehner had written that and phrased it as “There can be no greater priority than gaining a Republican majority in the Senate." You would be screaming bloody murder about Boehner: "Obviously Boehner is saying that he is willing to do anything - lie, murder, betray his country - in order to sieze power. "
The difference is that you would be serious about it. It’s rather obvious that Shodan wasn’t serious in his post. Look up satire in the dictionary.
Sure, but then it’s a matter of knowing when to stop pretending. Andy Kaufman overdid it to the point of irritation, and Shodan ain’t no Andy Kaufman.
Oh, piffle.
It isn’t that it was done too much; it was that it was done at all.
Face it - liberals on the SDMB are the whiniest batch of pussies on the Internet. They pitch a fit over anything. Part of the amusement is to compare the gentility they expect to receive, with the foam-flecked fatuity they dish out.
Boo hoo hoo - mean ol’ Shodan is making fun of me! He’s rubbing my nose in my hypocrisy! Make him stop! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH!!
How about No? Does No work for you?

Shodan
I have to say that I quite agree with this.
Crap! Sorry everyone. I was cleaning my keyboard earlier and didn’t notice this gibberish got posted.
Back to Shodan. He didn’t take kindly to my post about him writing something truly insightful from time to time, and I understand that, because it probably seems like damning with faint praise. But to me it isn’t: most of the partisan posters from both sides on this message board never post a single damned thing that’s worth the recycled kibble for the gerbils who provide the electricity required to power the pixels to display their trolling rubbish. In contrast to most, Shodan does occasionally post something worth reading. Not really often, but he does. And frankly, I wish he would more often, because I would prefer to read more insightful comments from his point of view, a minority view as it is around here, because, as many have noted, the echo chamber gets really old really quick. I’d rather be challenged to think then read some turgid nonsense ostensibly posted by someone on “my” side.
In a sense, I’m unfair to him because his trollishness is certainly not worse than the sort we see from leftist partisans on this message board, and I’m probably guilty of some it myself. But when I see the rare moment when he takes the time to craft a response that really makes one think, I want to yell, “Shodan! More of this! Less of that drive by, trolling-in-kind rubbish!”
TL;DR–I stand by my statement that the thread OP is really weak, both for failure to recognize satire as well as the glaring hypocrisy.
Keep in mind,** Bryan**, that there is a lot of evidence that the tighty rightys are just chock full of chuckles. How many times have you seen something like:
“I find it very amusing that…” or “Its very entertaining that…” or “Its hilarious that…”. Guys that are that easily funny-boned must have a very acute sense of humor. Their only problem with satire is that its two-edged sword and they keep grabbing by the blade. Ten fingers, then nine, then eight…
P.J. O’Rourke is pretty much all they got, he’s good for about two snickers in twenty pages. When he’s not too busy telling us how he used to be a pot smoking hippy but now he’s a drunk so that means he got smarter. Uh, well, OK, Peej, if you say so…
I see little here to disagree with. Don’t dish it out if you can’t take it.
I liked your earlier post better.
Regards,
Shodan

Actually, that was the most intelligent thing you’ve ever posted on this MB! ![]()
Yeah, don’t you just hate it when people do that!
No, I don’t. I was pointing out that he is the textbook example of what I described. He honestly seems to think he has all the conservatives stumped with his “challenge” to argue that we’re not all objectively evil (or whatever his asinine question is supposed to be at this point). He’s not self aware enough to notice he made my point.
Just one agenda item that differs from “Fuck Obama”. I’d be happy if you could think of even one.
That would be great if your material was better. Or at least good. As it is, you’re trying to make disingenuity entertaining and it doesn’t work very well, if at all. Try moving on to irony - that’ll sell well here.
See? At this point I’m wondering if he has some sort of mental impairment. If I were a lefty, I’d cringe every time I saw Elvis post.
He has some wacky 9/11 beliefs, too.
As for me, I’m being even-handed in showing my ability to mock people on both sides. Basically, you’re just a bunch of doofy Americans to me.
So, you have nothing connected in any way with the world of fact to offer as even a single example to support anything you say. Nothing whatever.
You could save yourself some keystrokes and go grow the fuck up a little.
Dems are butthurt that the Pubbies own them so hard with their dirty underhanded strategy of “being the opposition party.” The Dems didn’t do shit when Bush was in office and now internet libs are super jelly seeing the goopers bend them over a table. They think shit, why didn’t any of our guys say their priority was making Bush a single term POTUS? The angst goes even higher because, despite lib protests, their supposed representatives voted for a bunch of Bush’s evil policies too. “B-but muh agenda.” Oops, there it goes down the drain. Looks like you need a super majority. Which isn’t happening. HAW HAW HAW.
See how fun that is? Shit, I ain’t even RW. If you’re gonna troll, go all out I say.
