They often say there was someone else. They said it after the mall shooting earlier this week, they said it after the theater shooting. They said it after the Kennedy assassination. I think it’s just a fear tactic to keep the lookie-loos away while they attend to business.
BBC has just reported the new development, quoting AP, that authorities investigating the scene inside the school have found more guns on the premises, but they’re not saying how many or what type.
Based on what’s currently being reported, it sounds like the shooter was involved in a personal vendetta against his family, which makes it unlikely that the guy in the woods was involved. He probably was just some guy out for a walk who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Now the Beeb’s been reporting the shooter was autistic. I hope they’re not going to be focusing too much on that aspect. The teacher friend I mentioned in Connecticut has an autistic son herself, about the same age as the shooter, and he probably has enough problems as it is.
They even managed to dig up an old babysitter of the Lanzas, some guy who sat with the brothers eight or 10 years ago, and they were asking him about the autism angle. All he could say was that Adam definitely acted “somewhat different” from other children his age.
Why? If there’s a chance that his autism had something to do with it, we may be able to prevent something like this in the future. That seems like an important aspect to investigate, and I say that with multiple cousins with various issues with autism.
first the shooter’s mother was killed at the school. then she was killed at home. i heard one report that she wasn’t a teacher but maybe some other relationship may have existed with the school.
the school’s administration and teachers were heroes in the protection of students.
The fact that this is only the second worst school shooting in American history says something terrible about our society. The little kids talking about the story on television are incredibly sad.
