Shooting in DC, at Washington Navy Yard

An Alert Squad (כתת כוננות). They’ve been SOP in Israeli military bases since a series of terrorist attacks back in the 1980s. Often there’s an overlap between the guys doing base security and the alert squad people - for instance, soldiers who finish their shift at the gate and fences are on alert until the next shift change.

According to the BBC, A “heavily armed four-man Containment and Emergency Response Team (Cert) was near the Navy Yard when the initial report of an active shooter came in about 8:20 local time.”

The article goes on to say the Cert was instructed to stand down after arriving onsite a few minutes later, almost a half hour before the shooter was neutralized.

Unbelievable.

Now there’s been a shooting outside the Millington base, just north of Memphis!

I hadn’t heard of this and I live here. I am thinking this is a case of sensational journalism. The incident isn’t related to the Navy base; the injured parties being Army National Guardsmen and just happened to have been shot near the base not on it. It isn’t a base shooting in any way. Probably why it didn’t even cross my radar even though I only live 20 minutes away from Millington.

From the NBC article
"The incident did not take place on the base, the Naval Support Activity Midsouth in Millington, but at the armory, which is on Navy property.

"This is not Navy related," the military official told NBC News."
Again, not a base shooting, not in anyway like D.C. by any means.

Guy is in custody. He was pissed because he was called into the Army National Guard office "to be relieved of duty, recommended for reduction in rank, and recommended for separation from the active guard reserved because of alleged “misconduct.” "

More of a disgruntled employee than military shooting, IMHO
