It was a forum for all kinds of TV shows, and it had a very active thread for shopping channels discussion which was suddenly locked. Many of us were commenting (well, okay, we were snarking) about a certain controversial QVC host, initials LR, who is leaving the Q on Dec. 12. It’s unknown whether she quit or got fired, also unknown what she is going to do in the future. We were speculating about what really happened. There is no way to know for sure, but I suspect LR’s fan club got wind of the shopping channel thread and complained to that forum. That would explain the “it was bound to happen” thing.
Since former shopping channel hosts usually stay in the same line of business, we’re expecting her to turn up as a host on another channel, or maybe as a vendor of some fashion or beauty products on QVC. Anyway we were looking forward to continuing to discuss her after Dec. 12, when the mods abruptly told us she would be “off topic” after Dec. 12 and we wouldn’t be allowed to mention her. They even went further and said we couldn’t discuss ANY former hosts. at all. That was just too much.
Many of us have shopped on TV for years and we like to keep up with what the old hosts are doing now. For example, several posters had mentioned former QVC host Kathy Levine, and this week there was a public announcement that she’s returning to ShopHQ (soon to be renamed Evine). That’s something we would have wanted to discuss. Several people suggested starting a subforum for former hosts discussions, but the mods said nope, absolutely not. Then they locked the thread. If you look at the thread now, it just stops with the last post on page 351; the mods deleted their message about why they were locking it.
Thanks so much to Honey for giving us refugees a new place to snark! And thanks to Beauty Taint for sending me a PM (on that other forum) with the link to this forum. Sorry we can’t post pictures here. It’s fun to post pics of things you’re considering buying. Also, that departing QVC host wears some very snarkable outfits on air.

I am most definitely not a moderator, but… While you need to watch your language and be careful not to attack any other user and follow the other forum rules, this is not a place you have to worry about media overlords and moderators who might get upset because you offend QVC. I can see how a TV discussion site might want to remain on the good side of the providers and make you get all elliptical and coy in your snarkage, but pretty much the only demand here is that you be civil amongst your/ourselves.

Great! Thank you for summarizing the basic guidelines - very helpful! FTR, we did have a very good track record of being civil to each other there, despite differences of opinion sometimes. So I imagine we will continue in the same way here.

I’ll just right to a new irritation on shipping charges! I was packaging up a return for the Q and started to use their pre-printed return label. My original shipping charge was $6.95 and understand that is what they charge for the return. What gets me is that I paid for delivery via UPS and their return label is only good for using the US Mail, which we all know is much cheaper than UPS. So why are they charging me the same? I’m beginning to think they are crooks.

I’ve never returned anything to the Q. I don’t buy much there either, so there is that… You can try taking it to UPS or the USPS, and pay for your own label. They “allow” it, and it may be cheaper. On a light item, anyway. On anything heavy-ish you probably are better off with their $6.95 return label.

I guess it’s a matter of opinion whether Lisa is controversial. (Thanks to Amateur Barbarian for clarifying that we can mention Lisa’s name here.) People who like her think she’s fashion-forward, beautiful, friendly, smart, all-around super TV host, things like that. People who dislike her think she is stuck in her beauty pageant days (as far as hair, makeup, and being preoccupied about her looks are concerned), looks silly with her dark lip liner and orange self-tanner, and as for fashion, she is going overboard with the leather moto look and heels too high too walk comfortably. She also seems to be very preoccupied with posting selfies and pics of her wardrobe, her prestige possessions (designer shoes, etc.) meals and home interior on Facebook.
About her skills as a TV host, she’s been with QVC for 21 years, and up until a few years ago she was very good, selling all sorts of products with enthusiasm. Lately she’s seemed sort of bored and robotic. She says everything is “amazing, amazing, amazing,” and that you can get the “monied look,” the “Hamptons look,” etc. if you buy whatever fashions she’s selling. Many people have made fun of the trademarked QVC brand she’s been pushing, GILI, which consists of knockoffs of high-end designer apparel and accessories. She is supposed to be the “designer” of many of the GILI items, although she is probably just the spokesperson QVC chose for the line.
IMO, Lisa is burned out on the job and has run out of original things to say about the products she presents. It was probably made into a worse working environment when QVC dropped so many of their interesting products and started pushing a limited array of the same old products. I wouldn’t be surprised if every older host working there is bored.
Anyway, the controversy may not be with Lisa herself – it’s her life, and she’s entitled to live it any way she pleases – but with how the QVC viewers feel about her and what they say about her. There have been many forum fights between the Lisa fans and the Lisa critics.

I’m watching the ninja presentation on the Q. I have one. My problem is I need replacement single serve containers. A friend threw mine out while I was in a nursing home recovering from major surgery last year. I need to know where I can get replacements.
