I for one would like to thank TubaDiva for pointing this out, because AFAIK, it’s not documented anywhere else. My renew date was in March, and I was going to wait until closer to the expiry date to re-up. No reason to do that, apparantly.
Though not a frequent poster, I am a daily reader, and I value my charter member status.
All you have to do is acknowledge the customer’s request. Speaking from past experience you should realize that making promises is a bad idea (especially for Tuba). Still try to make the effort to pass it along to the Reader, but don’t promise things you have no control over. Don’t promsie that we’ll receive a decision, and don’t be an ass about responding. Be sincere and receptive. A polite “Thanks for your feedback, we appreciate it” will suffice.
And stop trying to distance yourself from the Reader. Even though you may have little control over their decisions, you have still made the decision to represent them. Start acting like it. You can’t have your cake and eat it, too. Either you work as their representative and have the duty to manage customer service on their behalf when it comes to the boards or you don’t. Your lack of power to enforce or participate in decision making processes is your problem with them, not ours. People pay a fee here and expect a service. Part of providing a service is also providing customer service.
We get several thousand posts each day, and are unable to respond to each of them personally, but please be assured that you welfare and happiness are of the utmost concern to us.
The sad fact is, that if the expected result of poor customer service actually occurs, and people start refusing to pay for membership, it’s a good bet that a connection between the two will escape some. <sigh>
I should note that I haven’t had any complaints about how I’ve been treated. For what it is worth.
