I’m not sure if this has even made the mainstream headlines in the United States but I’m just wondering what others think.
Should we end the career of one of the most promising young boxers around today because of a naive and poorly articulated statement? It would seem absurd to me that as America goes off to fight for values including the right to free speech, it attacks him for exercising that right. Then again, it would also seem absurd if he doesn’t recognise that he brought it on himself much as he says America brought its own troubles on itself.
In the end though, he’s a naive young guy (whose occupation involves taking blows to the head) who made a poorly articulated statemen t. Does this mean the aboriginal community in Australia should lose one of their finest examples of commitment and focus? He’s also a shoe in for re-uniting the title if he is allowed to go for it.e
