Mayweather vs Maidana Sat Sept 13th

Which one will end up losing this fight?

Maidana. Mayweather is far from old and slow, and can take a punch.

So you are going to be so upset if Mayweather actually ends up with his first loss to Maidana which will cripple Mayweather’s perfect record?

The first fight was close. As usual Mayweather looks better at what he’s doing and gets the eye of judges. Now Mayweather is older, he seems to have been out on the town a lot lately, if he’s been distracted from proper training he could be vulnerable. On top of that Maidana has been improving fight by fight, Mayweather seems to a lose a little bit in each fight.

Still, Mayweather will probably win.

I’ll be rooting for Maidana but I think Mayweather will win.

Gee, I’ll have to go back and read what I posted.

To be honest I dont enough too much about Maidana. If Mayweather is anything near the top of his game I find it hard to imagine anyone beating him.

What time does it start US time? And can someone translate this to proper time. By proper time I mean GMT.

It’s hard to say, because it’s at the end of a fight card. Also, the card is starting an hour earlier than usual - 5 PM Las Vegas time (midnight GMT). I expect the Mayweather fight to start sometime around 0230 GMT, but that’s pretty much just a guess.

Thanks. I know these times can be variable. From what I remember fights from New York can be just about watchable for a casual fan in the UK. The fights from Vegas are for the truly committed boxing fan, starting at around 3 to 4am .

If Mayweather thought Maidana had a chance, he wouldn’t fight him. I hope Mayweather gets badly knocked out - I can’t stand him - but he will win a boring decision.

That’s what most people thought would happen with the first Pacquiao-Bradley fight.

In fact, that’s what most people thought would happen with the first Pacquiao-Bradley fight after the bell to end the 12th round. Never underestimate the ability of boxing judges to make strange decisions - especially in Nevada.

I can’t imagine someone expecting a Pac-Man fight to be boring, and Pacquiao doesn’t dodge the number one contender for years at a time. Maybe I’m biased because Mayweather behaves like such a jerk, but I would resist any comparision between Pacquiao and Mayweather on almost any topic.

The only way Mayweather will ever lose at this point is with a straight KO on live television. No decision will ever go against him with the corruption levels in boxing. His undefeated streak is too valuable to the sport of boxing and once he loses I think boxing will be cooked. In the US anyway. The only way he loses is to take the judges out of the equation.

The guy’s a real piece of shit too so I’d love for that to happen to be honest.

In this case, Mayweather isn’t dodging. He knows that Maidana is a dangerous opponent from their first fight. He’s also talking about two more fights after this one and then retiring, and his intention to knock out Maidana (who has never been stopped). I’d say this is the first time he’s risen to face a real challenge after a career of fighting lighter and/or older opponents. However, I dislike him for the same reasons you do, and while hoping for him to lose, I’m pretty sure he’ll win this time again.

I’m calling it. Maidana will catch Floyd tomorrow and knock him out in spectacular fashion. Think Douglas over Tyson or Marquez over Pacquiao. Floyd will go down as the greatest pound-for-pound boxer of this era, but not without a big blemish on 9/13/14. Saturday the 13th. The Ides of September. Call it what you want, but Floyd won’t be looking pretty!

Tell that to the judge that called the Mayweather-Alvarez fight a draw.

Then again, she was also one of the two that gave the first Pacquiao-Bradley fight to Bradley.

After this fight is Mayweather-Pacquiao?

I’m afraid that ship has sailed. Even if they put it together, Pacquiao is too past his prime to have a chance, imho. It would be exciting while it lasts, but the fight would end with Manny on the canvas, again imho.

Ok, really bad call on my part. Maidana needed a lucky shot to get through. The more I watch Mayweather, the more I’m impressed with his chin. The conventional wisdom is that you can’t get a clean hit on him. But the two Maidana fights showed that he can swallow a punch or two without any problem at all. Just part of what makes him so great.

Expected outcome. A little clearer advantage for Mayweather this time. But…

The terrible job by Kenny Bayless as referee had an affected the outcome. Mayweather should have been warned for holding, and then penalized if he kept it up as he did. Maidana should not have lost a point for pushing Mayweather to the mat because he hadn’t been warned before, and Mayweather was off balance because of his clinch. Bayless should not have been breaking the fighers when their hands were free. Bayless should not have stopped the fight for more than a couple of seconds over a bite he didn’t, and probably didn’t happen intentionally if at all. He needed just enough time to make sure Floyd’s glove wasn’t damaged.

Floyd might have set the whole thing with the alleged bite. He could have intentionally pushed his glove into Maidana’s just to claim he was bitten. The video replay doesn’t show a bite, although it’s possible that it happened.

Overall I think the judges gave at least one too many rounds to Mayweather, but based on what they could score Mayweather did come out ahead.
