Should Bushco play the "Trial lawyer" card?

Bushco time after time has blasted Edwards for being a “trial lawyer”. But if you look at the Florida senate race bushco’s hand picked man is Mel Martinez.

What did Mr. Martinez do as a living for 25 years you ask?

He was a trial lawyer. read…Personal injury lawyer.

So should Bushco be called on this?

Of course they should. Why haven’t they?

In American politics, blasting the goddamned lawyers can only get you so far. The legal profession is simultaneously one of the most despised and one of the most respected in our culture. Most politicians are or have been lawyers, and that includes members of Congress. It has always been so. Abe Lincoln was a lawyer. Many if not most of the Founding Fathers were lawyers. Alexis de Tocqueville called lawyers the closest thing America had to an aristocracy.

Gee, I guess if your thread gets closed in the Pit, just open it up in GD!!

Who is “Bushco?”

Bushco!

Ahhh!

Well, in my view, Bushco hasn’t really taken a stand on the trial lawyer issue, so I would argue that the OP’s assumptions are fatally flawed.

Er…why exactly should BUSH be called on this exactly? I mean, as far as I remember Edwards is running as the Vice Presidential candidate…isn’t he? And Mel Martinez, from the OP anyway, is running for the SENATE…isn’t he? So…er…why exactly would BUSH be called on this? Shouldn’t this be part of the local Senate race? Or are you saying you can attack Bush(co) on EVERY Republican running in the country? Does that mean the Republicans can attack Kerry on every Democrat thats running for any office in the nation?

This makes zero sense to me. Can someone (besides the OP…he gives me a head ache) explain?

First off, can we stop with the “Bushco” thing? It’s, for lack of a pit word, lame.

Secondly, I think Reeder is referring to the fact that GW. Bush nominated Mel Martinez to be the secretary of HUD.

According to Wikipedia:

I hope that makes sense of what Reeder is threading about.
